Please don't make a Nine Inch Nails reference. Just pick which band has the worst trajectory of falling further from grace with each release.

Came in hear to say Nine Inch Nails, in regards to the topic title.

But NIN outdid themselves about every other album.

Pretty Hate Machine < Broken < The Downward Spiral < The Fragile > With Teeth < Year Zero < Ghosts I-IV > The Slip

Anyways, out of the list, I voted TBS.

All other bands have aspects that have somewhat stayed the same.

TBS. Cartel's debut doesn't suck nearly as much as people say it does. People who continue to say it sucks obviously haven't listened to it more than once or with an open mind. It's just different, guys.

I was hoping AAR would be in this poll though.

I went with Plain White Tee's even though I've never really liked them. Their newest album makes me want to puke.

Wow. MAJOR fail with the votes for Taking Back Sunday. Worse with every album? The further they get away from Adam Lazzara sounding like he is going to cry in every song (i.e. Where You Want to Be) the better IMO.

Well it depends on what you consider downward spiral.

If you mean quality, then it would be all of them (and some of them weren't even good to begin with), but if you mean mainstream success, you can't even consider PWT or TBS. PWT's have had 2 platinum singles. Not many bands can say that nowadays. TBS will always get their album sales. Cartel is decent.

I voted for GC just because that band is garbage.

I almost voted Taking Back Sunday. They get worse with every album but at least it's rather gradual.
Chroma is still one of my favorite CD's but the self-titled album is one of the biggest letdown albums I can think of.

or possibly you're retarded. at least they were being original at the time A Fever You Can't Sweat Out was released. I agree they needed to change up their style after that because every band on the goddamn planet ripped them off after that...but blatantly ripping off the Beatles was (in my opinion) not the best way to go.

Plain White T's have always sucked though...at least in my opinion.

Look at TBS. Tell All Your Friends was one of the best punk/alt. albums of it's time. You can't say that any of these other artists have released albums as relevant as TAYF.

Look at TBS now. They are horrible. John Nolan has left, Fred has left, they have fallen so far down it is just terrible.

See, I never thought Good Charlotte was very good though. To me, it's all about how far of a fall the band took. Taking Back Sunday was a damn good band, and now I really think they are pretty awful over their last two releases.

ihatecayte
07/07/09, 03:09 PM
tbs definitely. going from TAYF to loudernow, even, is a significant fall. i haven't even heard their newest, but i can only assume it's just as lame.

and good charlotte was never good enough to spiral downward... at least not very far.

CarouselBoy
07/07/09, 09:50 PM
to me it's clearly GC. They got huge with their first few albums, like mainstream huge. TBS nor Cartel ever reached that level and PWT was big for Delilah, certainly not the whole record nor for multiple records. Biggest downfall? GC. From all the way at the top to a whataretheydoingnow band.

TangledUp

Uhm...Good Charlotte for sure.
But Tbs will always put on a good live show so I'm not complaining.

domotime2
07/07/09, 10:48 PM
hmm well lets analyze these options here....

Cartel, definitely not....I wasnt' aware they were ever "on top of their game"...especially when talking about biggest FALL. Maybe they had one or two good records for a few people, but i dont think that many even people are aware they exist.

Plain White T's.... umm, im not sure on this one. They're basically just a two hit wonder, radio band in the eyes of most people...and again, I didnt really like the entire first couples albums so how fall can they fall.

Good Charlotte....first album was awesome. and then well, from there they just became a totally different band. I dont know if they've spiraled? Like 1st album = good pop punk album. 2nd album = mainstream pop punk album. And again, maybe they're falling from "relevancy", which was a reason why I almost voted for them...but in terms of QUALITY of albums, meh.

Taking Back Sunday.... this was my pick. I think the quality of albums, like the amount of good songs has decreased with every album. I thought their last album was awful. And I think there mass populairty is dropping. Now...they're still HUGE in the scene, and anytime they have a tour they still sell out most shows, and headline large tours as well. BUT, there was a progression going on where TBS was growing on a pretty large scale, which I think has stopped.

1) TBS 2)Good charlotte 3)Plain White T's 4)cartel.

other bands I'd consider on this list: Used, Offspring.

All of these bands suck right now to an insufferable level except for Cartel.

I really enjoyed a few songs off of Plain White T's first record and then they just decided to write terrible music. Now they've become the Bangkok Dangerous of radio bands.
TBS on the other hand were great until they started to suck and continued to do so.

So the worst music currently would be PWTs. The longest most drastic change in quality would be TBS.

It absolutely boggles my mind that Taking Back Sunday is ahead of Cartel and Plain White T's by that much in this poll.

Plain White T's were never that good to begin with. They've always been a mediocre band and they probably always will be.

And unless the new Cartel miraculously digs them out of the hole they got themselves into with their self-titled...they're pretty much done.

jtresk26
07/16/09, 11:44 AM
I think Cartel should not be on this list because they only have two albums thus far (as of this post) and should be given a chance based on what the next record could be. I think Taking Back Sunday, in my opinion, have gotten bigger with New Again. They are hitting more of amainstream since their last album. Now, between Good Charlotte and Plain White T's, I haven''t much from Plain White T's since "Hey There, Delilah," but I definitely have to go with Good Charlotte because that album, uh I think it was "Young and the Hopeless," it just blew up. It went triple platinum coming off a pretty good debut too. Then they abandoned the whole po-punk type sound people liked and weren't hitting the mainstream like "Young and Hopeless." I think they were the only artist that hit that type of a peak that they did than any other artist on this list. I think after that album, I heard more about Joel Madden's personal life than Good Charlotte's music, so if that's any insight to what I think, there you go.

Mediocre's a compliment.

And unless the new Cartel miraculously digs them out of the hole they got themselves into with their self-titled...they're pretty much done.

What hole? Their second album didn't do that badly in comparison to their first. "Lose It" didn't get the same radio play, but the sales were not that bad at all in comparison to Chroma. I really don't see any need for a miracle here. As long as they put out a strong album (which they are very capable of) they'll be fine.

GC and PWT I'll give you. But I've loved everything TBS has done, including the last two albums. In fact, I see the last two albums as an improvement considering Lazzara sounds like he is crying in almost every song on Where You Want to Be.
