how do you go about getting your band on a compilation cd? national or independent.

Other than that, I think you have to be asked or be on a label to be on one.

A lot of companies will email you asking you to give them $300 and they'll give you 50 copies of the comp. Illumina records is one of them if you want to be on one that bad...

$300? Their rates went down. Used to be $500.

do any of you know of any other compilations that may need bands? cd or digital (like alter the press)

I always thought you had to be involved with some kind of label for this to happen. Then again, I don't know that much about the music industry.

i believe that's how it works too. that's why i need to find comps that do unsigned bands.

do a google searches...most will cost money up front. make sure you do research and maybe contact other unsigned bands they have on the comp and get info and make sure you aren't getting scammed. the only one i can think of off the top of my head that does an annual comp of unsigned bands is scratch magazine...if it costs more than $50-$100 you are better off just buying a banner add on a website with high traffic or burning your own cds and just handing them out at shows around your area.
