and i saw the nba magazine "slam"
it had an article stating the 1996 draft class was the greatest class ever.
ai, nash, kobe and many others were picked that year. agree or no?

How about '84?
Jordan, Olajuwon, Barkley, Stockton... Four first ballot HOFers. And Willis, Perkins, and Robertson put up some decent years.

84's the first one that came to my mind too.

84 was great. hakeem, jordan, barkley, and stockton being the main ones taken. and they all had magnificent careers.
96 was amazing. iverson, kobe, allen, marbury, rahim, toine, peja, nash, ilguaskas, jermaine, have all had great career numbers. you've also got guys like camby, wright, dampier, and derek fisher who are out on the court every night.
03 was good. but im not going to call it great yet. it was three years ago. sure, lebron, melo, bosh and wade have become big names, but out of this class i see them being the only ones who will ever be able to put up 20 ppg in a season. youve got some good players like hinrich, ford, ridnour, da west, diaw, howard, pachulia and korver helping teams out every night.
but in the end, id give the award to 96. if you look at overall stats, and accomplishments i think 96 will forever outweigh 03.

looking at the people boston passed over with Toine at 6 just made me want to stab myself in the neck.

it's true, we just had an aim conversation about it despite the fact that we're about 8 feet away.

96 has it now, but in the long run it will be 03

I think 03's going to take it in the end. LeBron and Wade are already (IMO) in the elite of the NBA. Bosh is getting up there. Melo too. TJ Ford has crazy potential. And of course so does Darko. (If he actually plays in some games) If 03 lives up to its potential I believe it'll beat 96.

so tough. right now? 84. They're proven, legendary, and have solidified places in history. 96 is definitely next, but we really don't know how those players will stand out in 10 years. Players like Walker, Peja, Rahim, have all had solid careers, but they won't go down in history as memorable players. Only time will tell.

who did boston pass up?
i guess you could say they passed up bryant, nash, and jermaine o neal ..but they all went way after walker, so when you consider the people directly after him (kittles, dampier, wright) they didnt really pass on anyone.
anyway, i think the 96 class is a little overrated on this forum. 84 blows it out of the water, and 2003 has way more potential and is quickly gaining on 96. for 96 to have this big of a lead is crazy. i'd put it 3rd behind 1984 and 2003.

but its the fact that 96 is so deep. 03 has those big names...but thats it. nothing else.
i admit 84 is great so now thinking about it 84 vs 96 would be a great game.
