Just wondering if anyone else is taking the E/LA TAKS test tomorrow?

Yep. It's my exit level, I am a junior.

I am too (Junior). Rather do this than go to class though.

Damn right. Good luck with yours. I hope I don't fuck up on those essays though, the prompts always suck balls.

Our prompt was WEIRD. How are we supposed to write an essay on an important decision?

Other than that it was easyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. But this one kid in my group tested up until like...ten minutes before the dismissed us. Lame.

The prompts were easy this year. Our was "Explain how someone you like or admire can impact your life."

So freakin simple. haha, I'm Muslim so I wrote about the Prophet Muhammad.

Yeah man, that sucks. I hate when people are testing forever. We stayed in the class the whole day. What part of Houston do you live in?

Humble...But I go to Quest. Heard of us?

Our facilitators hate the TAKS test as much as they hate being called teachers, but we spent the last week cramming all the ELA stuff we could...We even had to write a practice essay over the weekend. The topic was last year's sophomore topic, I think...Maybe? Do you remember? "Explain the impact a person can have on your life." So I wrote about a few people that make me who I am and who I'm not...

Oh man...All day? I'd die...We got to go for lunch at 11:30...The seniors didn't have to come in until 10:30 and they bragged forever about it. My afternoon was cool though, work period, so a friend and I played DDR...and my geometry teacher was out so we had the librarian for some reason...Work period...so another friend and I played some Mind Master game...Weird.

Most of our seniors never showed, haha. No, I've never heard of ya'll, sorry. I'm from Sugar Land.

haha, most of our teachers hate the TAKS as well. Last ears was kinda hard for me.

We got to leave for lunch, that's it. No classes though.

hahahahah you guys are suckers. good thing i graduated 2 years ago. i didnt have to take TAKS. i took TAAS.....aka the easy/dumbed down version of TAKS. i received academic recognition in everything, and my scores were pretty much flawless, haha. too bad TAAS does not = scholarships, and isnt worth a shit in retrospect. but at least you get to exempt finals? if not you get to go home from school like 3 hours early too.
my little brother has recently fallen victim to the TAKS, hes a freshman.

You were the last class to take TAAS then. I hate you.

hell yeah i was.
senior year...we took TAKS as a "preliminary" class, so they can make the next test based off our genius/stupidity....and if you passed them, you exempted all your finals. i skipped so much school that year, cause i knew id be able to exempt my finals, regardless. i could have kicked a teachers ass, and as long as i passed TAKS practice, i was home free. ridiculous.
they even gave us free donuts for the hassle.

Haha.

Hahahahahahaha.

My school doesn't do finals.

We do fun shit like going to the Houston Zoo and a big competition "Field Day" the whole last week.

Better than finals, as bad as the zoo smelled.

Actually, ArTkY, I don't find TAKS that hard. There's a lot more pressure...But I mean...I've always done well on these tests, and I guess if you keep it in your head that you've always done well...The name change/format change never bugged me. It always just seemed to get stupider every year, and I would think, "New name..same dumb test..." And do great.

Funny story...My English teacher told the entire school that, in the grand scheme of things, the TAKS test does not matter that much. And a junior was like, "It determines if I graduate, and it doesn't matter?" And we hate him, so it was cool when he shut the fuck up.

TAKS is easy. But TAAS was cake. I prefer cake to easy.

Damn. I wish we didn't have finals, lol. But every school I've been to has finals.
