Kubrick = the best director of all time, in my opinion. He has 2 of the greatest sci fi movies of all time with 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange. One of the greatest comedies of all time with Dr. Strangelove. One of the greatest horror films of all time with The Shining. One of the greatest period pieces of all time with Barry Lyndon. He made movies that stand the test of time because he pushed envelopes until they exploded, and caused enormous amounts of controversies for his films (Lolita and A Clockwork Orange.) He also made 2 war movies that are always mentioned with the great war movies of all time, with Full Metal Jacket and Paths of Glory.
The only director that I believe was almost as innovative through all of his movies was Alfred Hitchcock.

I love Tarantino but I'm not sure he should be in a poll with two legends.

most of the time i make polls that come from arguments with my friends haha i was arguing kubrick, one friend at the lunch table was arguing coppola, and two others were saying tarentino.

Oh I see. Yeah, I can see how someone can prefer Tarantino over the other two, but to say he's better is something that would be very hard to argue.

I can't believe Kubrick never won a an oscar...

all three are great... but I'd have to go with Martin Scorsese, even though I wasn't totally in love with The Departed like everyone else was, I think he's had some of the greatest movies throughout his career and I really enjoy his visual language.

though my favorites would have to be David Fincher, Wes Anderson, or Hayao Miyazaki.

Umm..hello? Where's Scorsese? He's the man!

I have to say I voted for Kubrick though, man's a genius.

I think Stanley Kubrick is absolutely amazing, but I went with Tarantino.
I have never seen a Tarantino movie I didn't love.

Not to mention Spartacus or Lolita, but agreed on all accounts. It's a shame he had to go out with Eyes Wide Shut. Fuck me, I hated that movie.

Kubrick is easily the best of those three. Also, one of the best ever.

I actually really liked Eyes Wide Shut. It was very Freudian. I think it was a very personal movie for him, and I doubt he expected it to be recieved well.
But yeah I can definitely see the lack of appeal.

Scorsese is great, but his mobster movies can't touch either of The Godfathers. But for reasons I stated earlier, Kubrick is the best.

Edit: Aside from the third Godfather.

I'll go with Kubrick..even though that Clockwork Orange is some crazy shit, you gotta be a genius to make something like that.

Shutter Island!!!

The trailer for that movie is still haunting me as we speak.

I think Kubric is the most impacting and groundbreaking. Coppola makes the most relatable movies though. And Tarantino makes movies that many people will think are cool for a long time, but he is overrated.

Tarintino made Death Proof. Most boring hour and a half I've ever witnessed. Kubrick is just brilliant.

Spielberg has done as much to hurt film as help it. He made a few greats with Schindler's List and Jaws, but he also produces remakes like Disturbia and remasters films that don't fucking need it.

Edit: I call Disturbia a remake because it is such an obvious ripoff of Rear Window.
