My taste have gone completely boring. I heard Slanted and Enchanted for the first time and now I listen to that and its modern day equivalents mostly. Emo is mostly history for me, I deleted everything from Amanda Woodward to You and I (I wanted to say A-Z, but I couldn't think of a band that started with a Z). The only that still sees a lot of play for me is Cap'n Jazz and its offshoots.

Yeah, we actually just became fully operational again.

Two dudes left, so we were left with an incomplete lineup for a while.

We tried out some people, but then before you know it it was time for me to go back to cahhledge.

Now we've got the spots filled, about 3 or so new jams finished, and our first show this Thursday.

I'm really glad that things are back together. Literally 2 shows after we got the 7"s and shirts in, we were out of commission (we played our record release show as an incomplete band and I played guitar. it was a shit show). We're sounding pretty good... for us. Can't wait :-D

Also, there's a new band that I'm in with the two dudes that quit called Pathos: http://www.myspace.com/pathosnh1

Most of the recordings are temporarily instrumental (these ones are good), except for a really old song, with the guitarist (old drummer of alessa) trying to do vocals... that one's pretty bad.

I'm really happy that he's continued with the whole "occasional black metal instrumentation" thing. Phil's my boy!

So, to shift topics, whatever happened to those bands you were/are in??? I would still like to hear things, unless something has gone horribly wrong interpersonally... and believe me, I know that that can happen.

i just played a predominantly screamo fest last year where half the bands ripped off orchid and half the bands ripped off city of caterpillar and most of them sucked, and everyone was snobby about the fact that we weren't edge, and after watching a lot of them just play the songs they played because it seemed like the cool thing to do, i just got burned out. there needs to be more progression in this genre.

I totally agree with you there. I always remember getting looked down upon for having a beer or a smoke. The DIY scene is completely full of themselves. The loudest ones turn into the biggest hypocrites. The best is watching a "DIY" band that parties freak the scene kids out by the fact that their "idols" get high.

well i mean i was just really referring to the fact that those kids were walking around as if they were being revolutionary by rehashing sounds from a decade ago when they really just created an alternative marketplace and that's all.

of course, we also met a ton of sweet bands like native and loose lips sink ships so it wasn't a total wasted trip.

I agree about the full of themselves thing. A good deal of people in the screamo scene realize that they're just playing screamo, and their shit stinks just as awful as everyone else's.

I don't really get why everything has to be about putting your nose up and flaunting your elevated ideas. If you don't want to support commercialism with your music, just fucking do it, don't brag about it. if you want to be straight edge, vegan, or anything else, just fucking do it, don't brag about it.

Yeah, I gotcha. I'd definitely be stoked to catch a show sometime though. Maybe if that trip I've been thinking about taking to New England sometime ever actually happens...Haha

That would be pretty great, just sayin'

technically, you'd have to start posting here like two years ago when people actually liked this kind of music here.
I still listen to some. But then, some of it really was terrible. I think everyone would admit that about like mohinder.

Ampere is a good band. One of the few bands bands that actually have a punk ethic
