It would awesome if they added Going to Pasalaqua, but I don't think that will ever happen at a big show.

decent set. i've never seen them before and i'm not really a huge fan, but i'm seeing them in about a week... do they tend to change up their sets during a tour, and is there a chance in hell they'd play Deadbeat Holiday?

Depends on the date -- the three openers on the various legs are Kaiser Chiefs, The Bravery and Franz Ferdinand.
Also, I'm glad to see "She" and "Jaded" on the setlist. I was pretty much expecting the rest of them.

Last tour I enjoyed of Green Day's was Pop Disaster when they just played their hits.
This will be my second time seeing Green Day, the last time being Pop Disaster with blink several years ago.

this setlist is terrible. The changes since the AI tour are: 1.they brought in the medicore 21st songs 2. and kept the same old ones with the expectation of Geek Stink & She. very weak, at least they should change the old songs a bit. They have great songs on Nimrod, Insomniac, warning etc.. not just the ones they played billon times since 04.

You mean the last tour where they didn't headline and were touring on a Greatest Hits album so they could only really play their hits....

There's two nights so you should be able to find a ticket second-hand pretty easily. Though I believe, on paper at least, they're both sold out.

Partially. They co-headlined that tour, which means that they had the same amount of playing time as Blink and closed every other night. But yes, when they toured a greatest hits album and played all the songs that people actually wanted to hear.

i remember the american idiot tour stayed pretty close to being the same every night. and no, sadly we will probably never hear deadbeat holiday (or many other incredible gd songs) live.
its a shame they play Shout and King For a Day all the time though. sure they're fun for the audiance... but it's green day. they can do SO much better than that.

Blood Sex and Booze was played by that side project they did so maybe that could go in there!! :-)
I really could live without King For A Day, so shite for it to be there again.. Redundant, Scattered and many more tracks from Nimrod would be a better pick

I can't believe they're not playing either of the "Viva la Gloria" songs. Those are two of the best songs on the new album! Other than that and the inclusion of the mediocre new 21st Century songs, I'm happy with the list, but still surprised "Wake Me Up..." isn't in there either
Blink did close every night, but according to Wikipedia, Green Day actually had more playing time.
At the Denver show, Green Day played for about an hour, and blink almost hit curfew and they only played for about 40 minutes.

Went to the Chicago show, it was pretty much the exact same set list as Minneapolis except no Let's Go Crazy (cover) and no Minnesota Girl. I was surprised they haven't been playing Wake Me Up When September Ends. But I will admit this is a great show, if they are coming to your town please take the time and see them talk about high energy and fun at a concert. Billie Joe just loves getting the crowd involved. At the Chicago show he invited like probably 10 people on stage total through out the show. I mean it was ranging from little kids to adults. It was just so much fun! In Chicago they sang Take Me Out To the Ball Game and did a guitar solo of that one popular Lamb of God song. One negative is that he does the "Heyyyy Ohhhh" wayyyy to much but like I have been saying super high energy show loved it!

I can't think what could've made it better. Maybe Going to Pasalacqua. Or Who wrote Holden Caulfield...
That was also the one where they BLEW Blink-182 off the stage.
Yeah, they wiiped the floor with them. I felt a little bad for Blink that night, half the audience was either gone or dead after GD.
Does anyone have the setlist or know what The Bravery has played when they opened for Green Day? I'm kinda getting in to them, and I'm curious what they're playing.
They played a song, Believe, two or three more songs, including one called Hate Fuck that they said was new, and ended with An Honest Mistake. I don't really know many of their songs, so I'm sorry that I'm not much help. I think they played seven songs or so. Maybe eight.

crowd went insane during 2000 light years away. billie played about a minute of castaway and couldn't remember the chords so stopped as the whole audience laughed at him.
he also ran into the 200 level section during one of the opening songs. security wasn't thrilled.

Just wondering, why would you go to a Green Day show if you don't know any of their recent material? With American Idiot and 21st CB as big as they were, those would obviously be the majority of their set.

I didn't see the MSG setlist, I'll have to check it out. I never said I didn't like them, I just said I'll be enjoying their older stuff. I'm six years older than you are, I disagree with your statement that AI or 21st are their best material. No big deal.

I know their new stuff. I was just hoping they'd play more of their older stuff and not "so much" of AI at least. I understand pushing the new record, but they've got plenty of older songs that as good if not better than the non hits on AI.

they wrote things better than AI before it? i mean, i own their discography. i love dookie and nimrod and warning as much as the next guy and i can appreciate 1029 smooth, and who wrote holden caulfield might be my personal anthem.
but with all that said, AI is their best output from a musical standpoint. it trumps dookie in my opinion. im not denying your opinion, i just wanna know what makes you think who you do. i mean, is basket case and hitching a ride and watching billie joe masturbate on stage really better than watching actual great music?

i'll be seeing them friday. can't wait! i kinda wish we got franz as the openers isn't of kaiser chiefs, but whatever. i'm seeing green day. that's enough. hahah
Saw them in Pittsburgh 7/22; they put on a great show (as always). I was actually a little disappointed they didn't play much of their newer stuff, but it was still a really great show. There were a lot of funny things that happened; such as a fight breaking out in the crowd and Billie stopping the band, scolding the fighters, then starting the song up again. This band has always been entertaining live.
Also, I thought The Bravery were just okay; thought the frontman was kind of a joke, but everyone else in the band was pretty solid. I never really liked them anyway .

I thought the whole band was a joke really, I mean I tried giving them a chance the first time I saw them (during X-Fest here in Indy about 2 years ago) but man their lead singer was def trashed and you couldn't hear a thing in Chicago I felt like. There was no energy with the band!

Yeah, the frontman just seemed like a douche. Every time they would put the big spotlight on the drummer, the front guy would walk over and stand directly in front of the drummer... what a dick. Happened over and over again.

tour premier of when i come around, per fan request. the new acoustic song 'drama' was an awesome segue into TOYL.
crowd went insane during 2000 light years away. billie played about a minute of castaway and couldn't remember the chords so stopped as the whole audience laughed at him.
he also ran into the 200 level section during one of the opening songs. security wasn't thrilled.
the energy level was the highest I've ever seen at a msg show, do yourself a favor and catch these guys in your hometown.
I agree- great great show last night at MSG! They played forever, and the Dookie best-of in the middle part was just great. It was so good, it almost didn't feel like an arena show, and at the same time gave you everything you could want out of a big arena rock concert. I went to the Webster Hall show back in May, and the MSG one was actually better.
How about that stupid kid growling the lyrics to Longview? What a tool!

That kid WAS a tool. However, it was awesome that he tried to stage dive FEET FIRST and everyone moved out of the way so his fatass just hit the floor.

Looks like a pretty bad set to me. I'll be enjoying about 6 of their songs at this point. They need to play some older stuff for their older fans. Oh well, tickets are bought no use in complaining now.
Come on man, that's the most cliche argument of ANY setlist. Plus, what do you consider "old" at this point. Warning was a full 9 years ago. By my count, last night I saw 11 "Old" songs.

Haha, I was dead center where he was running towards! You heard a collective "Oh God!" from the crowd as we saw him gaining speed. Everyone spread out, but I couldn't move anywhere, so some us just ducked down, he went flying over our heads and he hit the ground hard. What a fool. You don't go feet first!

What's the "cliche" part of the argument. There wasn't an argument it was my opinion. I consider "old" stuff that's older than Warning. I didn't enjoy Warning all that much. Maybe on top of this, they're not really playing the songs I enjoy from them to begin with. I don't see what I said being a problem or "wrong" it's just my take and thoughts on what I saw.

Tonight was crazy. They made MSG seem like CBGBs. Kaiser Chiefs were awesome too. Hopefully someone posts the setlist. This show restored a passion for Green Day that I haven't had since like 1994 (when I was 4) and I loved all of their albums since then. Just...intense. Wish I was on the floor but it didn't even matter in the end.

okay, I was a little disappointed with the setlist early on in the tour, but to those of you complaining about the lack of old material, you're crazy. When they toured for American Idiot it was nothing but AI songs and smash hits, which was great then but now they're playing songs even older than Dookie! I'm stoked! I would have never thought that I would hear 2,000 Light Years Away or Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? And even songs like FOD, Macy's Day Parade and Castaway are only songs I'd dream of hearing but never think they'd perform at arena show anymore. I can't wait for the St Louis show. I'd love to hear Castaway, even though Billie Joe doesn't remember the chords.

I can't believe people are complaining about that set. My god, now I'm wishing I had bitten the bullet and gone to the Boston show. I was holding out for a second leg and a stop in Maine (I went to the Mass date in '04 and they played Maine five months later). That set is absolutely incredible.
I'll definitely catch them on the next leg, one way or another.

Really hoping for some randomness at the Nashville date. Either way I'm happy, I get to spend the night before my 21st birthday watching my favorite band.

I think they'll be a secondary leg with "secondary market" dates in the winter/spring.

Thats what I was thinking. Like I said, during the American Idiot initial tour, I went down to Worcester to see them, and then caught them again in my home state in April on the second leg.
I don't see any reason for them not to hit up Portland, Maine on this tour at some point. It was a full blown sell out last time. in fact, one of the largest shows in the venue's history.
Really hoping for some randomness at the Nashville date. Either way I'm happy, I get to spend the night before my 21st birthday watching my favorite band.
Hopefully they will play 21 Guns for you ;-) haha

The Nashville show had a couple of surprises, including "Dominated Love Slave" which had Billie on the drums while Tre rocked it out on guitar. They also play "When I Come Around" and Billie played "Blood, Sex and Booze" acoustic before "Last Night on Earth" and "Good Riddance"
This show blew the first leg of the AI tour out of the water, everything about it was amazing. Billie pulling a small child on stage to do a baptism during "East Jesus Nowhere" had to be one of the coolest damn things I've ever seen. So much energy and effort from a band that could phone it in and sell out arenas all across the world, I'll see them every damn chance I get until the day I die.

I couldn't agree more. They put it all out there every night they play. They did the kid being saved thing in Pittsburgh, too; it was very amusing :-d .

Did they do all of Stuart And The Ave or just a clip?
Did they do all of Stuart And The Ave or just a clip?
they did this at the atlanta show too, billie just played the first verse by himself on the guitar(& sang), he said it was all he knew. atlanta got one of the plain set lists like the beginning of the tour, no 1039 or kerplunk (except welcome to paradise), but there were two exceptions: after he played the first verse of stuart and the ave, the band played about 3/4 of "scattered", and before the last two acoustic songs billie played "coming clean" acoustically. it looks like he is starting to play random acoustic songs before "good riddance".

Yeah, they have been. He played "Drama Queen" (unreleased) right before Good Riddance in Pittsburgh... it was pretty cool, even though almost no one knew the words haha.

canadians like to stand around looking cool, but when i saw this tour last month, the first half of the floor was pretty into it. billie joe has a runway he comes out on, so the closer you got to that, the more movement there was. i was in the seats near the back, but it looked like if you wanted to find some craziness, it'd be there. there was a bit of crowdsurfing, some small pits (well, small considering it was an arena floor), and a lot of dancing/jumping around/freaking out/whatever you want to call it. stay close to the front and it should be fun.

If you want movement get up front, I was only able to stand still for a few seconds here and there until the last 3 songs which were acoustic. Drink plenty of water beforehand as well, I nearly passed out right before the encore.
