Canada has been a little disappointing while Russia has maybe exceeded some expectations by playing like a team, for the most part. Likely will be the best game of the day ..who wins?

I really hope Canada, but of course I am bias. I picked them because I want them to win. I haven't really seen them put together a solid 60 minutes, then again I haven't seen Russia play at all (wish I was able to watch some of the Russia games). However, both teams are really still relying on individuals.

Canada needs to put together a 60 minute effort and if they do they will win and they will win gold if they can do that every game. If they don't put together 60 mins and have a lead or w/e there gonna need broduer to stand on his head again.

Here's a question I have.... and I want an answer:

Why aren't the Canadians hitting? I mean, there are times when Ovechkin will be just dangling with the puck, and the defenceman has a clear hit, but he doesn't. Our biggest problem right now in both ends is that we have physical players who aren't playing physical.

the physical presence is a great advantage for the canadians too ...in the past, and this years team seems no different, the russians have been pretty soft. Hitting these fast skaters might throw em off there game a little and if the Russians can't beat you with speed and scoring, they arent going to beat you at all.

Darren McLeod

Well, that's the game. Canada's effort was too little, too late. It's a shame... Brodeur did a great job, and I thought Canada was finally going to realize their potential.

GET RID OF THE COACHING STAFF, oh ya thats right we left off some of the canadian top goal scorers and look what happens, we cant fucking score, good fucking job gretzky.

Brownpants06

Sigh. Need to finish those scrambles. Nabokov got really lucky on the last few chances for Canada. Russia will lose to Finland and will win Bronze.

Did you forget how he left some of the top goal scores off the team?

Spezza Staal Crosby. While I admit I wouldn't have picked Crosby, I sure as hell would have put on Staal. That kid is really good.

But still, it's not Gretzky's fault we can't score. Ryan Smyth, Lecavalier, St Louis and Sakic played really well. The others we're slacking the entire tournament. (Iginla wtf?)

Darren McLeod
02/22/06, 02:13 PM
Who would you have left off for Staal or Spezza? I would've thrown in Spezza to play with Heatley, for sure, but i don't know who I'd leave off. Initially, I would've said Doan, but he was amazing on the penalty-kill with Draper. It's strange how the best players for Canada were the ones who, by the numbers, are weaker.

kg00d
02/22/06, 02:14 PM
All I have to say is 2010, all games are at GM place with a capacity of 20k, mainly Canadian crowd for canada's games, thats all I look forward to now since the Leafs won't be winning the cup before that time.

I would have left off Nash and Draper.
Why Draper? The man played great, especially on the penalty kill.

I agree with leaving off Nash... shoulda had Spezza in there. Should've left off Pronger or McCabe and put in Phaneuf, too.

kg00d
02/22/06, 02:26 PM
Yup phaneuf should have been there but no gretzky thinks he should form a team that is 2 years ago (world cup 2004 team) and not add a roookie when phaneuf has clearly been one of the best defenseman in the league this year.

kg00d
02/22/06, 02:26 PM
Look at these guys on tv, ya im sure there upset but they dont look that upet, hell pronger just even smiled.

Brownpants06
02/22/06, 02:27 PM
I probably just have a thing against Draper. I would have really wanted to take off a defense like Pronger or McCabe for a better forward but, guess you can't hah.

Although McCabe did have a nice few plays at the end and kinda sucks we didn't get to see some more powerplay shots from the point.

kg00d
02/22/06, 02:28 PM
I thought McCabe was one of there best dman this game.

My prediction would be Iginla being captain with most of the players back. However Crosby Staal and Phaneof would be on the team replacing some of the older ones. Probably Luongo as starting goalie.

If half of this team plays for Canada in 2010, I'll be mad. This team showed no heart whatsoever (Brodeur, Doan, and Draper are exempt from that comment).

I agree with those players. Some guys that I felt were sorta good were st louis and richards as well.

Next time around the team should be picked based on who is playing good that year. Expect to see people like luongo, nash, st louis, richards, lecalvier, heatly, regher, boumeester, pronger (maybe), iginla (captain in 2010), and gagne back and you'll probably see phaneuf, staal, spezza, crosby this time around along with whoever else is playing good at that time.
