you decide. i can't. beautiful arrangements and vocal melodies made paul stand out...but gritty rock n roll and wacked out experimentation, and just a sense of more depth makes john stand out.
Paul Songs (some of them): let it be, hey jude, get back, the long and winding road, penny lane, shes leaving home, drive my car, here there everywhere, elenor rigby, birthday, back in the ussr, obla de obla da, yesterday, getting better, we can work it out
John Songs (some of them): revolution, come together, lucy in the sky with diamonds, dear prudence, strawberry fields forever, tomorrow never knows, norwegian wood, in my life, the ballad of john and yoko, all you need is love, the walrus, ticket to ride, i feel fine

yes, why wouldnt I be serious? most Beatles fans have a preference. Hell when I took Major Composer/The Beatles, a 3 credit Music class at the Univ. Of Pittsburgh, even our professor had a preference.

i basically mean that this question doesn't even need to be asked. lennon is miles and miles better than mccartney and that's basically universally understood. sorry for the misunderstanding

WHOAAAA there. 'universally understood'???? thats quite an audatious statement and I know many a music enthusiast who would argue otherwise, and I've read several publised authors who would disagree.
Where's the books/articles/essays etc. that justify your statement? I'd love to read the publications you must have read to infer such a broad stroke statement of the universal appreciation of john over paul. I'm assuming you must have read several biographies to come to such an absolute Truth conclusion of Lennon's dominance in the band. I mean i've read 3, i know that makes me no expert, but none of them made your assertation, they must have been left out of the universal loop right?

lol.
1. just listen to the music.
2. calm down this is not serious.
3. i can't take most of paul's music seriously
4. i don't need to justify myself, i'll leave that to timberlake

McCartney is a tool.
Lennon.
McCartney is a tool.
haha, i concur. McCartney is an asshole.
john lennon...paul has become corny as the years go on.
On the contrary, I think Paul has been doing much better than John lately.

McCartney. Paul McCartney is a big hero of mine. Besides McCartney made better solo albums overall.
But the fact is Lennon = McCartney.

i went with mccartney based on the beatles work alone. if john lennon had been around as long as paul, i think he would have done some amazing things, but paul wrote the best pop rock songs of the original beatles era.

You're right. Theres a certain mystique created around John now. Paul's still a rock god.

Paul McCartney wrote great pop songs.. easy to sing along to. Lennon wrote more experimental or musically inclined pieces.
I've liked Harrison better thank both of them. But since he's not included (Idiots) i'll just choose Lennon.

Paul, because of "Oh Darling".
One of the most underrated Beatles tunes ever.

i don't see how Paul can do better than John lately when John, himself, is late. :shrugs:
but i voted lennon. not just as a musician, but as a person. though they'll always be equal, i think john lennon had more impact on the lives of others than paul mccartney did.

McCartney is an asshole.
they both were, in their own right.
i've always been a john man, i dig a lot of george's stuff too. i guess it's kinda chliche now to say that george is the most underrated beatle, but it's still very true.

both together. i liked the later beatles tunes better though, and those were mostly sung by lennon. but i love the older beatles almost as much. i can't really choose.
i'd have to say i like lennon's stuff after the beatles more than paul's for the most part though. still can't choose.
