Here is a piece I wrote sometime last year. This is the first piece I really put some time into trying to make work as a song. I took quite a bit of influence from Alexisonfire with this one. The italicized parts are meant for a clean vocalist and the bold for a rough vocalist.
How could I ever forgive you for
Get to the point
Less I hear the less I said
"I'll never forget you"
And the girl replied:
"Just wait... they always do
Give it time and so will you"
Like a fading dream she said:
"This might not be the end."
And she ran
See, I have this problem
I could never say no to
Or ever let go of
You like it where you are
You really happy here?
Do you ever catch yourself thinking of
Me, I'm always dreaming
Of a time when you were mine
I remember the lives we left behind
Just say goodbye
So now I'm recounting the history of my flaws
There was no reason, but I know it was me because
Every time I hear your voice
Brings the past back to
Life without you would be worth
Less is more or so it seems
To me that I never moved on
