View Full Version : Can anyone tell me why the Sonics want Watson?

Sonics get Earl Watson and a conditional second rounder, the Nuggets get Reggie Evans and Ruben Patterson, Blazers get Voshon Lenard and Vitaly Potapenko. First off, weak trade. Second off, why the hell did the Sonics trade for Watson? Why do they need another point guard who makes more than their current one and is not nearly the player as Ridnour? I don't get it. Planning to trade Ridnour? Maybe planning on sending Watson back out? I have no idea...it's bizarre.

nba trades are not about production, they are about money.

we need a backup pg...bob hill has been asking for one all year

rick brunson is not the answer

reggie evans and potapenko don't play anyway

Expensive ass backup. I know they need one, but still, there are bigger needs and they should use their trade assets for more important positions, or in the worst case get a change of pace PG.

earl watson is a fine player.
trust me, you're getting a real quality player in watson. i've watched every single nuggets game this year, and he took many games into his own hands. he's easily the most professional athelete that will be on your squad. He was told he wasn't going to be here after today all season, but he did his job well.

watson was a second round pick of the sonics in 01...played his first season with the team.

Don't know if it has been said but they got him for defensive help as they felt Rindour needed help.

Don't get me wrong, Watson is a great player. But good fit for the Sonics? Unsure...

you can't be serious

the sonics were getting murdered without a backup point guard...this is a huge pickup for them. flip murray had to run the point and he's such a loose cannon it's ridiculous. this trade makes so much sense for Seattle that it confuses me as to why you'd call it bizzare. Have you not been following the team this year?

yeah theres a reason that four or five teams were wanting watson.
