How is it even possible to make an educated choice without hearing what either sound like? It's pretty difficult to tell at the moment who inspired the change in sound in the band. I would guess that it was Ryan, so I'm very interested to hear what he and Jon come up with next; and I'm curious if Panic will be reverting back to something resembling Fever with their fourth album (since I'm fairly certain that the third album is already finished). I'm hoping that Panic doesn't go back to their old sound, as I enjoy the artistic strides they've been making.

Because we basically know who was responsible for what in Panic.

The main attraction of Panic for me was always Brendon's voice and I think Spencer is a good drummer, so I'll go with that pairing. I think Ryan and Jon's new project is called Hillside Song? I might be wrong, but I wasn't too keen on the small amount of music I heard.

It was my understanding that Ryan was the real creative force behind the band, so I'll assume that the better band will be the one that doesn't feature him.
But ultimately neither will create good music

I agree. I think the Brendon incarnation will be better, his voice is great. Lyrics might be a problem though, didn't Ryan write the songs?

I'm stoked for both. I wish that was an option. The magic of panic though was brendan's vocals mixed with ryan's lyrics, and some incredible pop music. I don't think either will live up to what they could continue to do together.

i liked fever...but pretty.odd. was a lot more to my taste. I think Ryan's new project will be better based off the cover and that demo they posted. panic is going in the wrong direction.
p.s. whats wrong with sounding like the beatles? they are awesome.

I think that both new projects are going to sound completely different. I've heard the 30 sec. clip of Brendon and Spencer's new song and I have to admit I think it's going to be amazing. But I've heard some stuff Jon has done on his own and it also sounds fantastic!

Hillside Sessions is Ryans new band. It's on Myspace. I think I'm going to like them more then Panic.

Hillside Sessions is not anyones new band.
Jon and Eric Ronick, Panics touring keyboard player/friend, recorded a couple songs (one cover, one original) and put them up on myspace under that name.

My bad, I just assumed it was since they just put up a myspace a few days after the break-up was announced with some original songs.

I'm looking forward to hearing what Ross comes up with. I've always loved his lyrics.

A Fever...: Dancey club rock catchy music, almost clever oh-wow-this-song-is-about-sex-no-way lyrics.
Pretty.Odd.: Quirky joyous catchy music, utterly valueless lyrics.

I think Ryan has a nice voice and is a more mature songwriter, so I'm expecting good things from him and John. "Behind the Sea" was one of my favorite songs off Pretty. Odd., and if he can do more like that, Ryan will be successful. I think Brendan will continue to have his great voice, but I doubt he can write songs better than Ryan, or he would have while they were still together.
This will be interesting.

i laughed real hard at this.
i do like pretty. odd. though, but ENOUGH is enough. i'd hate it if they made another pretty odd.

brendon's voice is my favorite part of panic...so i believe i'll enjoy that better.
Spencers a super solid drummer, and Brendons voice made this band.
Whereas Ryan wrote decent lyrics and John is a really good bassist.
they'll both Fail. at least by the standards of success that they have experienced to this point.

Ryan Ross can't sing. As much as he wishes he could, he can't. Brenden, however, can.
