PS3 shouldn't be compared to the Revolution because the only similarity they'll have is that they play games that a user operates. Other than that, they are completely different machines that will offer different experiences.
And so it looks like Nintendo will be the most profitable games company once again.

Nintendo slaps PS3 and X360 in the face.
. "Nintendo is the only company on the 'new' generation path. The innovation you've seen thus far with DS is just the first step and a template for how Revolution will change console gaming. Suffice it to say, in five years, we can expect our competitors will have joined us on the path to a 'new generation'."-Perrin Kaplan

Good point. The Revolution isn't built to be a power machine. It's meant to be an accessible and immersive system that anyone can play. I think it will sell well among females and even among an older demographic.

Remember, 299-399 is an analyst's speculation. It probably will be in that price range (i'd reckon 350-400), but the reason it's crazy is that Sony is going to lose so much money on their consoles. It is ridiculous to lose as much as they are planning on it... they're basically just using it as a trojan horse for Blu-Ray.

that is what's going on. They've made a system that is hell to develop for, and costs them money up the ass, but they'll win in the long run if they can beat off HD-DVD, because they'll make money off of the Blu-Ray format.

Because you would have to purchase a 200-300$ system to then purchase more games.
I don't, saying you can.
Kicking the shit out of it?
PSP: 35% marketshare
DS: 23.55 marketshare
That's in the USA. In Japan the DS is more popular, but hey, I'm not really talking about the rest of the world right now.
Sales don't matter worldwide for a company or anything apparently.

GBA isn't even beating the DS in the US.
Fair enough, but remember that the PSP is a younger system, and has been out less than a year. In light of that fact, the PSP securing 28% of total market share (http://playstation.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://news.punchjump.com/article.php%3Fid=1760). Jason, we're Nintendo fans. You're not gonna win.
Especially with that poor research. Come on man. We all regularly visit videogame forums where we have to face up against Sony and Microsoft fans who know their shit, so we've got eachother's backs and know everything.
Nintendo's financial numbers aren't bad. In fact, they could probably continue running a successful business on Pokemon royalties until the sun burns out. They are loaded.
Don't bring up PSP and DS numbers, because 3/4s of PSPs purchased are for the multimedia factor. Sony loses money on the PSPs sold, and if they don't sell software (which they aren't), they don't make money. DS outsells worldwide, and good work on leaving out the Game Boy Advance and Micro. You can't just look at what you want to. That's not even noting how Sony counts its sales as consoles shipped to a retailer, where Nintendo counts it as the numbers sold in stores. That's a huge difference when you consider how many systems are out on shelves.
Revolution will be a huge success. Nintendo can afford to make the price pretty much half of what Microsoft and Sony sell theirs for, and they'll actually make a profit. Developers are getting excited because they don't spend as much money in development. Developers are excited because Nintendo made it easy to develop for. Gamers are excited because it offers something new. They are going to bring in crowds of people that would never purchase a videogame system.
Your theory about Nintendo going bankrupt like Sega is ludicrous. Nintendo makes much smarter business decisions and they always make the profits they would expect to make. And the "candy land"/"kiddy game" argument has been around for years, but the fans are still there. Mario is no more "kiddy" than Halo or whatever "Mature" game you want to mention. Go on Xbox Live and listen to the sound of the voices in the chat, and you're lucky if one of those kids' balls have dropped. They're all 11-year olds who still think that guns and blood make a good game.
And FIFA Street sucks.

No, I haven't taken a college level finance course. It doesn't relate to my major and though I could go ask my finance buddies (who are taking business because, as they put it, "it's easy as fuck") about it, I don't see any point as I'm not sure where you're taking this. Yes, Nintendo sold the least amount of consoles, but they did so at a higher profit margin and make loads of money from many other endeavors (IE: handhelds, used schoolgirl panty vending machines in Japan, bukkake houses, etc). What happened in previous generations can't always predict what will happen the next time around.
