The song "Fable" by Gatsby's American Dream is based on the book "The Lord of the Flies" incase anybody didn't know that. And of course their name is from "The Great Gatsby."

And the line "I've seen what happens to the wicked and proud when they decide to try to take on the thrown for the crown" from Brand New's "Jaws Theme Swimming" is from "Dogma." It's not quite word for word, but close.

Taking Back Sunday - Set Phasers To Stun (Star Wars)

Actually, I'm pretty sure it's Star Trek.

Anyway my favorite is Brandtson - Grace thinks I'm a failure - from Bottle Rocket.

There's also Sic Transit Gloria, which was used by Brandtson first, then Brand New .. from Rushmore.

Actually, the line does use 5 and not 1. He's naming off the girls in chronological order and he finally admits that Laura snuck into the Top 5 at number 5 (with a bullet). I only bring it up because it's one of my all time favorite movies. :)

Wow, I'm a huge fan of Brand New and Kevin Smith and I didn't know that's where the song came from. Ironic that it's titled what it is considering the salsa part in Clerks.

i'm not quite getting that one. the great gatsby is my favorite novel, but i'm not seeing anything except
"The vessel groans
The ocean pressures its frame.
To the port I see the lighthouse
Through the sleet and the rain.
And I wish for one more day to give my
Love and repay debts."
