im seeing them tomorrow (they were the first band ive ever seen live and that was 10 years ago) and im STOKED. Like i cant freaking wait. so in honor of my awesome day tomorrow, which offspring album is the best.

I mean...haha... Smash vs. Americana in my eyes. But lets seeee. I did not include self-titled from 80s, ive never heard it, and id be pressed to find someone on APnet that thinks it's there BEST.

Americana because it's the only one I've ever listened too. How's their new record?

Americana, while it only has one of their very best songs (The Kids Aren't Alright), is the most solid overall. Smash is a close second.

Ixnay on the Hombre, without question. One of my personal favorite albums ever. Its by far their most consistant.

Conspiracy of One was their top album for me ... then they went downfall ...

it's grown on me to the point where i think 3 songs can be added to the offspring library of fun/awesome songs. BUT! unlike previous albums the other songs are garbage....their slow songs are pittiful (sp)

Can't wait to see these guys Saturday. And I picked Americana. RAF, RAG was so disappointing.

Smash is a classic. Smash is to me like Enema of the State is to this whole site as far as pop punk albums go.

the only difference being, that Smash actually deserves the praise.

Yeah. I hate blink getting so much credit for starting the whole pop-punk scene, when The Offspring, Green Day, Rancid, etc. are the real ones who deserve that credit.

None of those band's really started it as much as brought it into the mainstream. Which isn't a bad thing. My probably with Enema is that its just awful, generic, album. Hardly deserving of the praise it mysteriously gets.

I've got nothing on Blink, Dude Ranch was a heck of a record, but to be remember for something as bad as Enema or for their scripted live show is just sad. Too many good bands are forgotten.

smash put them on the map, americana brought them back to the mainstream, but ixnay on the hombre is their best album song for song. There are no bad or even any average songs on it, every song on ixnay is in the range from "pretty good" to "really really good"

plus you forgot self titled... though it would probably not get any votes

Americana. I've loved that album since it came out.

And before them, bad religion, nofx, and before them the clash, etc. Blink is the band who really embraced and reciprocated the media attention and, therefore, maintain more spotlight. But really, does it matter who gets the credit? Each of those bands are quite popular and successful, and I would be willing to bet that they don't care about "credit," whatever that means.

I voted for ixnay. It's a more refined version of smash and doesn't contain "pretty fly for a white guy"

Tough call between Americana, Conspiracy of One and Smash. Haven't heard the new album yet but I thought the single was a bit shit.

Pretty Fly was on Americana, not Smash.

Ixnay.

I know, that's why I said it. I was trying to pick what I felt was the best era of the band's career; Ixnay is, IMO, a better version of Smash, and is also pre-Americana style. :-)

ahh fair enough, Ixnay is my favourite, but IMO Smash has more classics e.g. "Bad Habit" "What Happened To You?"

Yeah. Also, that record was so cool in that it had so many singles for an independent record. I really liked Americana when it came out (different tastes at the age of 11), but now Smash and Ixnay are the only ones I really play anymore. Never picked up the most recent one.

Id have to say that Smash was amazing and got me into them, and Americana and Conspiracy of One were great follow up cds. I dont like Ixnay or Splinter tho, those just seem too... typical? i guess, idk. But the new cd is pretty good, not as good as the first 3 i mentioned tho

wow, its harder than i thought, i man pretty much all Offsprings albums are divided between speedy punk/hardcore and fun novelty tracks. All have great tracks, but I can't really think of the more "solid" album, I mean Smash is definatly like the "definitave" one, and while it had some great songs, it was when they were doing alot of post-grunge songs as well, which I've havent cared for since probably 97. I dunno, honestly, like i said they all have great tracks, but all have pretty disposable ones too.

I love Smash, Ixnay, and Americana. This poll just took me back to playing video games at my friends house after school. Nintendo 64, Jones Soda, and Americana. Haha. Thanks for the great flashback! I miss being young.

Implying that a "washed up" Offspring could write Americana.

Smash has to be their best because it has Come Out and Play and that is my favorite Offspring song by far. I felt like the newest Offspring album was a opy off of that album, but in a cheap way.
