So Ive written a lot of shit over the past month, you could call it lyrics, but I havnt gotten around to write it out in structure yet (verse-chorus-verse), but I figured Id post anyway.

I've never been here on a saturday before,
but everything is the same, you can tell the second you walk in the door.
The smell of sweat and skin, loose morale and possible sin,
every day is the first day of spring.
Everyone is looking for someone, but everyone looks the same,
we're reaching for something to hold on to,
all we need is a name.

Chivalry isnt dead, but buried under piles of popular culture,
the dancefloor is our desert, a game of hawks and vultures.
And this is how we spend our nights, in shallow noise and divine distractions,
Even in our great numbers we are still alone, we are all fractions.
But I want you to see me as I really am, not hidden behind these toxins,
and what the others say, I dont want you to give a damn.

At the bottom of every glass I see another face,
all features are washed away, as if I saw you from under ice.
And even if we remember these nights,
it never stops us from doing wrong,
this isnt our place, this isnt where we belong.
But my shoulders are broad, I can carry you across
we do this now, escape at all costs.

There's other structures Andy.

And this piece isn't too bad.

Hehe, I know, I was just saying it's "raw material".
Indeed. It read a lot like prose.

I think if you structured it and fleshed it out a bit more, maybe just not so much rhyming becuase it reads so much like prose, it's a very good piece. Good work.

Another one;

These flames are quickly fading, our furnace is turning cold
Im compensating by heating up my words
Amputation isn't an option, and I refuse to let this conversation die
Aggression isn't always a weapon, there will be answers where our bodies lie
Finger acrobatics, I play with the words of the deaf
Keep spinning my limbs 'til there are no words left

We sit, the rising moon clear in our sight
We sit, watching darkness take flight
We sit, without saying a word
We sit, slowly disappearing into the herd

The arms on our gage are reaching towards the red zone
'Cause our vents have caved in, and we have to fix this alone
Oblivious, thought we had come too far for easy lies
You blindsided me, now Im facing years of hopeless tries
So two cheers for your politics and another two for your eyes,
never have I seen blank stares with so much life

And we sit, as our bones silently crack
And we sit, as our nation is under attack
And we sit, when the end finally comes
And we sit, until our bodies are gone

Another one:

The numbers on my wrist stop between twelve and thirteen
I'll take that as a sign today isnt the best day to come clean
But that won't kill my rising mood, Im on a open path
and the final obstacle is you.
Newfound strength, dead-drops are on their way,
leaving you behind, and I'll live to fight another day
I've found that lost feeling, the one I thought you stole
words bursting from my throat, it takes every effort to slow them down

A rush of blood to my fingers, eager to grasp their pen
The longer Im without a leash, the longer the blood will remain
And while my handwriting might not be fit for an A,
these words ring of a better time on its way.
The line between drifter and pioneer is surprisingly thin,
the deciding factor is their sacrifice for the win.

Different eyes see different rights, and you sit up all night
watching the sunbeams take flight
As deadbeats take the streets, these eyes separate the grain from the wheat

Quality over quantity, we're saving ourselves for that special one,
but we cave in for the pressure and expectation
beg to get it done.
As the sun sets, none of our expectations are met,
get it done, move on, anything to avoid regret.

and another one (Im pretty happy with this one);

We create images in our mind and imagine what it's like
leave these surroundings, looking for a way out
We put these things off, making plans for another time
when our words are property, these are yours and these are mine
So let's fall in line, and let our imagination take flight
let's pretend what we're doing is right

Close your eyes and face the sun,
These are fires without flames, taking your thoughts home again

Driving along the coast, your head firmly placed in the wind
the smell of sand and the sound of seagulls pulling you in
Dreams of mermaids and other amazing feats, are stolen by a cold breeze
but we turn the other cheek and sink into the water with ease
Another night, another reef, we sink into the water with ease

Close your eyes and face the sun,
these flames won't leave a scar, so take your thoughts and let's begin

Sitting by the fire we watch the blinking stars
we navigate without maps, but we're not going very far
It's more than likely our journey will end underneath an almond tree
my head facing the grass and you lying next to me
And while summer has yet to come, it doesnt really matter
these days spendt waiting are just as warm

Close your eyes and face the sun
these are fires without flames, taking your thoughts home again
And even when the rain starts to pour, know you're not alone anymore

I fooking love the last few lines of that one.

Also, the sentiment behind the first one really hits home with me. Especially the part about clinging onto a name. I'd like to see you do some stuff with no rhyme scheme Andy, I think you could make it work.

A few new ones:

Lately Ive found myself drawn to crowds
despite social awkwardness Im longing to stand out
Over the buzzing of the crowd there's always one voice that rings clear
and I know it's yours even when you're nowhere near
not even attention from the crowd can drown you out
Im putting myself in your shoes,
don't you want a this as much as I do?

If I knew that words were needed, I'd write them down for you
And if I knew what was coming, I would lead you through
But these nights are growing longer, and the air is getting cold
We all have to do this on our own

You can't expect your surrounding to change
unless you're changing yourself
and with this in mind, I feel the need to leave you behind
I'll no longer be here to explain, but don't panic, keep this in mind
a little mystery rarely hurts anyone,
and those that do enjoy the pain
Facing your fears is a daily task
so climb these cliffs and take a dive
Confidence alone will keep you alive

If I knew that words were needed, I'd write them down for you
And if I knew what was coming, I would lead you through
But these nights are growing longer, and the air is getting cold
We all have to do this on our own

These are the days which we must decide,
take flight and leave ground, leave this all behind
or dig in, hide in your shell, keeping everyone at bay
So take some time and ask yourself
where do you want this to go?
Ambition is worth its weight in gold

Andy
03/02/06, 09:56 AM
another one:

Pace your words, let's not seem too desperate
desperation calls for attention, and no one wants a part of it
Describe something original, put your creative mind to work
don't you want to live again, don't you want to feel it hurt?
They're all looking down on you, staring with judging eyes
15 seconds in the spotlight, make up your mind,
and for Gods sake don't waste your time.
All rise, the courts are listening
All rise, the cameras are watching when the courts are blind

State your name, beg on your knees and recall your crimes
Now lift your eyes, sound sincere and declare your regret
State your name, we are all bound by worthless rhyme
State your name, beg to become a footnote in time

Let's not blame society, that one is way too old
you must have some childhood stories dying to be told?
Abused and abandoned, how can blame be placed on you,
when the world turns it's back, what else is there to do?
Your limits don't matter now, who doesn't want to be watched?
Publicity speaks to the world, and publicity never stops

All innocence is lost, the polls are in, the public wants you on the cross

State your name, beg on your knees and recall your crimes
Now lift your eyes, sound sincere and declare your regret
State your name, we are all bound by worthless rhyme
State your name, beg to become a footnote in time

Quiet your screams, how will this look on your appeal?
That kind of anguish used to sell, but those trends always gets old
All you wanted was to be immortalized in ink
and this is where it got you, now it's too late to think
Now suck in that gut and break out your best Bambi looks
When the clock strikes twelve you're going into the history books.

Andy
03/02/06, 10:10 AM
last one for today:

The credits are rolling, and I figure it's time
we've been sitting here for hours, pretending to be blind
Will this never end, am I doomed to see you again?
This break certainly isnt clean,
I'll have to change my habits and force a new start
but at this time I'll do just about anything to keep us apart
As the moon rises and we enter yet another night,
we both know this will end, but we keep going out of spite

These are moments that call for action
we are past words, we're desperate for reactions
So take a seat, let me buy the next round
a gentleman til the end, I'll hand you the keys to the car
we all know you won't get very far

I've got to stop being so direct,
by now you know all the signs
Im walking through walls but you're the one in blinds
My every breath is a clever play on words
yet your eyes are blank and you never recall what you've heard
So despite my fear of being alone, I'd rather have my mind intact
than being stuck with you
So despite my fear of looking like a fool, Im kicking out this chair
and leaving you for good

These are moments that call for action
we are past words, we're desperate for reactions
So take a seat, let me buy the next round
a gentleman til the end, I'll hand you the keys to the car
we all know you won't get very far

Years pass and now you're just a familiar face
I don't care if Ive seen you before,
when you nod in my direction I won't respond to your call
I won't confirm my own lack of taste,
I won't acknowledge you at all.
And if I seem rude for not giving you the time of day,
remind yourself that common courtesy never was my way

The sun shines so much brighter now, even when the skies are gray.

another one:

Maybe she told me its all okay, or maybe she told me to leave
it's hard to listen when you're berating yourself
for not having more aces up your sleeve
But it makes little difference,
here she is now, entertain her
Just close your eyes and do your best
hope that tomorrow morning it's all a blur
And I know I have a tendency to worry, but now the white coats are here
Don't you see, this is what happens when you take a part of me

Submit me to this mental ward
Lock me down, throw away the key
When the sun reflects off the snow
We all become a part of the scenery

The lines beneath my eyes betray hours of sleep
even in dreams you won't let me be
Now the body grows but the mind is left behind
seperated by my only posession;
a guilty conscience that grows with time
I can only stay in touch with myself through this piece of paper,
an internal monologue written out loud
I can only see myself in the flashes of passing cars,
mirrors against these ancient cell walls

Submit me to this mental ward
Lock me down, please just let me be
When the sun reflects off the snow
We all become a part of the scenery

They know where you live, you know
and even if they have me, they won't let you go
If I were you, I'd take one last photograph of the scene of the crime
consequences caught within white lines
Burn all the maps, scortched earth carry no trace of the traps
You can avoid the law if you stay clear of the road,
but they already have your scent, and soon the world will know

Don't worry about me, in my dank cell my mind is free
You will see for yourself, in cell thirteen-o-eight,
won't you come in, and open the gate

Andy
03/09/06, 09:43 AM
this one is long

Desperate to become our idols of old
following trails instead of making our own
Keep track of evolution, tell it when to hold
Time runs too fast and promising cards must fold
With fixed stares and resolute steps,
another generation lost to the lure of blank checks
Sell our bodies for hints of what's to come next
missing out on chances to light up lives like matches
There's something purifying in being drowned in sound
so when you hear us scream,
embrace it for what it is and don't shut it out

We are all walking contradictions,
truthful liars and preaching devils
We won't wait for you to figure out the twist
Keep dancing on our toes and the rain will fall
camouflaged as snow but with an acid hiss
Preaching devils one and all

Watching from a distance with a mischievous grin
"You're not doing your job, you're not paying attention to what's being said
We focus on results and our numbers are dripping red"
Watching from a distance as the blade descent
they consider their dreams and wonder where they went
Stories tell of revenge so sweet, but this is not about great victories
it's about avoiding defeat
We won't bother with you if you can't keep up, can't keep the pace
why should we slow ourselves down,
why should our progress go to waste?
When the time comes, align yourself with a source greater than the sum of its parts
We built this from blood and thunder, now we tear it apart

We are all walking contradictions,
truthful liars and preaching devils
We won't wait for you to figure out the twist
Keep dancing on our toes and the rain will fall
camouflaged as snow but with an acid hiss
Preaching devils one and all

From the corners of our embassy
we take our land and make it expand
Pioneers and frontiers go hand in hand
Don't you love the feeling of new ground beneath tired feet?

Feel free to fold your hands and look at the skies
it's a little late now, but it's worth a try
Silently voice your case and try to convince him your cause is better than mine
But even in your black heart you know it's time
Ages of questionable living is what made you fall
Now you're nothing more than a sign on a crumbling wall

Keep an eye on the chains that bind us together
without them our plans will burn
Keep an eye on the hand that clutches the world
we are the leaders of this secret firm

Smile! As fire falls from the skies
These are the days of rapture, one last spectacle before your ultimate demise
A magnificent flame turning ashes to gold
Enter the year of the dog, enter the days of old.

Andy

I feel like adding some more

This is my final broadcast, pinpoint my location and then let me go
this war has been raging for ages and we're fighting without a shred of hope
Endless nights waiting for a signal,
waiting for commands that would mean we'll never see home
waiting for commands that guarantee we'll never grow old
Watching another dawn break, we hide in its wake
Ignore the commands and plan our escape
And while our run is doomed from the start,
the final outcome was never depending on us getting very far
As they riddle our bodies with bullets, not a single one will pierce our hearts

With fixed eyes and folded hands we sit idly by
Watching endless lives cut short by unexpected fire
Keep wishing and stars will appear
Keep quiet as our end draws near

This is my final broadcast, break the connection and leave me to the cold
we've lived these past years over radiowaves
cutting through the sky like artillery fire
Now we circle our targets and dream of better days
hoping to take to the skies again, this time our destination won't be an antennas den
Another moment will pass, silencing our dreams with a distant blast
numbing our senses in it's final gasp
Breathing new life into tired limbs is easier than it sounds
when storms and waves are building up for a final round

With fixed eyes and folded hands we sit idly by
Watching endless lives cut short by unexpected fire
Keep wishing and stars will appear
Keep quiet as our end draws near

This is my final broadcast, and I hope it finds you well
Even in these dire straits slurred words are hard to tell
Everything is ready now, our preparations are at an end
one last stand, one last act by lost men
The voice on the radio is no more than static to me
static ties us down, the echos of gunshots sets us free
Rain has been falling for months now, but Im not one to keep count
time has a tendency to stand still
stuck on this battlefield with one way out

Reciever, are you listening to me?
The wolves are in the walls, the wolves are in the walls,
I hear them whisper, drawing us out
their howling is choking us, their jaws are snapping at our necks
Unable to reach the radiowaves, unable to reach the radiowaves
A state of starvation is only the beginning
we are beyond your concerning thoughts by now
Please don't waste your protest on us, we know our justifications are wrong
but easy reasoning works well enough when lives are lost

As the rope is about to break our flight
we pay for our misdeeds and attempt to deny whats right
We are cold blooded killers and our veins flow as ice
United by a nation at war and a hope that justice is blind
We scream out of rage and aim without sight
Blinded by this fierce light and left in the night
They say 'never say never and never say no'
these are references to a story yet to be told
These are facts yet to be known, tell me your opinons on this easy blow
Dive into microtape and let your objections go

hehe, these keep getting longer and longer

Rhythms flow through a stereo, and dancing fills an empty room
one could call this easy listening
despite the machinery at heart
given a few hours, this empty frame will turn into a piece of art
Thanks to this driving beat,
secure and stable structures are shaking
dust rises from the streets and guilty names are taken
I've never been able to notice slight change
but words in high decibel are adding truth to this charade
Grab my tired hands and teach me what to say
we can deny the rain and dance the cliches away
There's a certain pitch in my voice that I save
just for conversation with you, it doesn't imply a thing
but I hope that you do.

We require solitude to get anything done
but when we're together our work is at it's best
so come with me and watch the stars
we'll let gravity do the rest

Ever so introvert but never direct,
all personalities are forged in the fire
Ever so dedicated but never safe,
all affection is lost on this liar.

Forgiveness lies in the details, scrutiny done out of love
paper covered in running ink is a signal of hope
While I might not reach you now, in time I know I will
when ink is as dry as my throat and details cover your skin
And I can't help but smile and despair,
we spendt less time together than apart
moments become memories, you still hijack my train of thought
The days didnt seem this long,
even when you kept me from sleep the hours didnt pass this slow
apparently no matter the distance can provide the closure you want
As the last melody fills this empty room,
I stare through the windows but see no reflection of my wounds

What kind of tribute would this be without a casualty of comfort
going out of my way to give you what you didn't want
I never ment to turn you into a metaphor, but you didnt leave with much choice
leaving me as a message without a voice

Ever so introvert but never direct,
all personalities are forged in the fire
Ever so dedicated but never safe,
all affection is lost on this liar.

Strap me to this empty bed and tear me apart,
all he ever wanted was a fresh start
The dancing is dying out, and the room falls silent
without the shivering beat the structures just stand and wait
they will remain still for a thousand years,
something like us won't come around again
I fear the day when our source runs dry
when our improbable situations wither and die
We are the comets that fail to reach the sky
I am the instigator, I cover the moon and stop the tide
You are the drifter, always out of sight of my weary eyes

Apperance is everything and everything is lost
listen to the speakers and grab the words you cherish the most
focus on the grand chorus, melodies rising high
these pieces won't win you back, but keep me quiet through the night
This is an empty room, this is an empty frame.

these pieces won't win you back, but keep me quiet through the night
This is an empty room, this is an empty frame.

good stuff.

...

This place reeks of gasoline and broken dreams
how you spendt a decade here, these these eyes will never see
Choosing this hell over me,
even if Ive always been a strong supporter of beautiful scenery
If you find a bar with free refills be sure to let me know
this ignorance is killing me but Im passing oh so slow
The irony usually escapes me, but tonight Im quick
you said I shut myself off, I replied "then we're a perfect fit"
Never been a fan of pointless conversation
with more referances to your heart than a medical chart
and thats just the tip of your tongue
these are the nights when you question if all the good die young

When will I meet a sensible one?

Introduce myself to strangers, spread my name in the wind
I hope you seize it, breake this cycle of sin
I do what I can, atleast what I could
Social suicide never felt this good

This is a setting from a nightmare,
a nightmare I dont want to recall
a place so desolate the beggars beg from the poor
Faulty electronics cause deafening blasts,
powerlines to a forgotten past
A view from a distance, a view of the world
from this height we can see an architect among buildings,
an animal among the fur
I'll keep rising, this atmosphere is too cold
spend another night in the heavens,
if you cant stand the rain tonight, you know where to go

When will you stop being one of the norm?

Introduce myself to strangers, spread my name in the wind
I hope you seize it, breake this cycle of sin
I do what I can, atleast what I could
Social suicide never felt this good

If you keep spinning these tales, Im afraid you'll run out of words
adding details won't prevent this from being just another view of the world

Every time I see this thread, I keep thinking the title says "I don't do titties."
But I do, I do do tittes

Anyways, here's another one, Im not completely satisfied with the 2nd verse, its a bit too direct, I might rewrite it sometime.

I have a habit of repeating myself, I stick to what I know
I lack a certain ground in which new seeds can grow
Despite my shortcoming I hope you listen close
at any given moment you'll hear a hidden gem
a mid-day sunset like this won't happen again
I'd be hard pressed to give up my secret,
but I'll make an exception for you
Eye contact are key words, a slight shift can make all the difference in the world
Imagine if I could apply this mind to something worthwhile
instead of wasting nights on running ink and attempted lives
This is social commentary on a basement level
this is a personal uproar with the impact of a tiny tremble
Deep down we all run on egotistical motives
but we're not deviants, it's the nature of the human machine
misfortune brings a smile to our face
"Im sorry, but thats just what you have to take"
We're not deviants and accidents are never mistakes
Instead of wondering what changes to make
we should ask ourselves if change matters at all
will your winning summer personality be a hit, come fall?

Allow your efforts to betray your cold and cool exterior
you'll be a champion among weekend warriors

These random notes written on massproduced pads
are they the truth or just another ad?
Is this of relevance, is this something you'll regret?
Is this what you haven't heard yet?

Introspective thoughts can be uneasy on the mind
you keep digging deeper, you never know what you'll find
We still have a lot to learn from philosophers of old
where are your boundries, when is your soul sold?
What does it take...
...I can hear your sigh, dear reader, and I know what you think
'what relevance does this have? we'll forget it in a blink'
Thats our problem, history is still stuck on repeat
It's about time we learn
What will the price of your soul be, when it's your turn?
Throughout your youth you've been fed rehearsed latin phrases and marketing lies
'Carpe diem, young man, we see the future in your eyes'
And when it's time to decide, a moment is all you get,
latin will be outdated and you'll allready be in the market's debt
I don't claim to know the answers, but I know it's time we stop
our past is up for review, and Im starting with you
Picture yourself a decade past, then think of where you are today
you'll see its not what road you choose, but the detours along the way

These random notes written on massproduced pads
are they the truth or just another ad?
Is this of relevance, is this something you'll regret?
Is this what you haven't heard yet?

Have some faith in coincidence, dont jump ship when the first waves start to roll
Time doesn't move as fast as you're told
If you'll only stop for a second, and let the coincidences unfold

Im actually really happy with this one, and it's the one Ive spendt the most time on, by far. It pretty long, so thanks for taking the time.

Our war of impulse action and careful plans always ends in an uneven draw
Im stuck on the starting line as the gun yells go
My train of thought keeps running past its final destination
possessed by bitter breaks and racecar manifestations
Somehow I always end up in the same fixed line
while you're fleeing from our victimless crime
Our backlot has a regular cast that's quickly growing stale
we try to spice it up with guest stars and special effects
but to no avail
That rancid stench of old is seeping from the set
it's a shame to burn the props when we havent reached our peak yet
I play the role of the weathered and wise
ignored by the academy, showered in praise
Tell me you do it for the arts
tell me you're not just a pawn for the industry charts
Taking myself too seriously and playing my role for free
I'll end up in dead ends while you're this months Hollywood mystery
Is this a hidden perk or a whole other beast,
stepping on stars while barely standing on my feet

Our boxoffice story is being remade
they changed the cast but the soundtrack's the same
Another shiny screen, another weekend saved
Providing the public or providing the arts
this is easy money, this is winning hearts

(chorus)
Too fast for tired feet, too fast for us to breath
seeking success in industries of deceit
Apperance is everything and everything is fake
how much oxygen can these lungs take?
Words start shaking as lips are turning blue
keep progressing, keep it true

Regardless of where your bed may be at this time
I think its time for my daily lullaby
my voice breaking through windows and razor wire
Our careers keep clinging to the ladder, we're the firefly that refuses to die
When 24 hours spans our lives, its even worse when we cant remember the words or times
internal terms and linernotes fill the night
I know you dont need to see my face to get my desired effect
intonation over radiowaves is all we need to conquer dreams and regret
Brace yourself when I reach the high note, note the tremble in the back of my throat
Behind closed lips your tongue works furiously
do me the favour of looking me in the eyes while you curse me
Today Im the cynic but tonight Im the saint
that is the power of production, the effect of the fake
What if the street musicians all played the same song
would it affect your perseption at all?
It happens more often than I'd like to admit
but my double standards prevent me from calling it quits
They tell me to report my feelings but keep my opinions to myself
the public prefers if I provide questions, but leave the answers on the shelf

It's an easy equation, mathematics to be loved
You give me the material, I add the desired voice
They avoid the legal terms, and you will never know

Too fast for tired feet, too fast for us to breath
seeking success in industries of deceit
Apperance is everything and everything is fake
how much oxygen can these lungs take?
Words start shaking as lips are turning blue
keep progressing, keep it true

How long will this electric halo glow?
How do I expand my empire while still sticking to what I know
On my way up I planted the seeds
now the ivy infests and grows
They always told me "if you blow enough fuses, electricity will flow"
Fast forward 10 years, fast forward from summer to fall
from this awkward angle you can see it all
Watch the devil's hungry eyes while I barter for my soul
I lived my life in spotlights, I drowned myself in fame
now I silently sink while he distributes the blame
Its not a burden if Im the only one who knows
What if lightning strikes twice, what if you get another chance
I'd hate to see your future ruined by my past
My city has shun me, I was a man of the people, now I stand alone
come opening night, it will all be gone
Our star turned into a black hole, a tabloid scandal at most
my agent has already sold the rights to my ghost

Watching the sun trying to break through dark buildings
knowing that shadows are all we produce
the teeth of time strike me,
and I worry my demise won't even make the news

Too fast for tired feet, too fast for us to breath
seeking success in industries of deceit
Apperance is everything and everything is fake
how much oxygen can these lungs take?
Words start shaking as lips are turning blue
keep progressing, keep it true

Bad men with worse victims commit unspeakable crimes
a silent sign of the coming times

Since Im done with all my exams, I've got some time on my hands again. This is a short one, just to get back into it.

This ship is going down,
and they say that hell is for sinners, liars and those who snitch
I was never a good judge of character, but Im sure I'll fit
I know breaking false hopes isn't one of the deadly seven
but even planned redemption won't get me into heaven
Piracy funds my cuts and bruises, but the budget is tight
and beggars can't be choosers
I am a man of murder, you are a woman of sin
our answer lies in the legal terms, never tell Lady Justice of our little fling

Typecast out of character, we escape in eachother

The hammer and the sickle will always burn brightly red
put out the fire with unmarked bills
and words that were never said

Back to my short stint in purgatory,
desperatly trying to win over the crowd
To the steady rhythm of clapping hands,
building momentum before they tear me down
It's unfortunate, I always crack under pressure
they're sizing me up, fiery pits starting to cause seizures

What does it mean when my red sun rises in the middle of the night?
When the doctor won't look you in the eyes when he says everything's allright?
Why do we keep trying when we know the devil won't give us a fair fight?
Fire, when the white of their eyes are in sight

Given my constant loyalty,
I must admit Im shocked that Im the one on trial
There are two roads ahead, but the choice is no longer mine
I don't know why I keep up this charade,
my cover is blown and the decision is made

This ship is going down,
made up minds won't budge
One hand to hold on to the rail
and the other to hold my grudge
