Boring as fuck and that lame wedding scene lasted almost an hour. The movie would have been much better if it was trimmed about 90 minutes or at least an hour

I liked the pacing. I think without all the buildup to the characters, then the second half would mean nothing.

And also, I hate that everyone says just the first half of Full Metal Jacket. Bullshit. Some of the best writing I've seen in movies is in the second half of Full Metal Jacket. Animal Mother is one of the greatest characters written in the last 100 years, and is totally effective when placed against the gomer pyle character from the first half.

Definitely. Waaay too many people discredit the film because of this vital piece of it's story.

It's a film with points and themes that people looking for an adrenaline fix ignorantly dismiss.
