Below are the staff recommendations for the week. Post what you've been listening to in the replies, and make sure to check back as the thread is updated.
Rohan: Man Alive (http://www.purevolume.com/manalive), Marathon (http://www.purevolume.com/marathon), and The Working Title (http://www.purevolume.com/theworkingtitle).
Garett: Recommendations (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=2708687#post270868 7). I am joined by Dan Gordon of Calamity Records (http://www.calamityrecords.net/) and there are bands listed that you do not want to miss.
Scott: Damien Jurado (http://www.damienjurado.com/). Also, go rent The Shield DVDs. That show is intense.
Caleb: Decapulet (http://www.myspace.com/decapulet) that's all.
Tony: I am pimping Liam and Me (http://www.myspace.com/liamandme) again because I'm off to Taste of Chaos tonight, and L&M has been kicking my ass all week.
Jonathan: This week, Jason Suwito has joined me on recommendations. Those can be found here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=117536). Also, check out his myspace (http://www.myspace.com/jasonsuwito) where you can hear some sick covers, including a funky, dance remake of "Image of the Invisible."
Gabe: Hot sex, hot recs (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=2709830#post270983 0) (with Brad Ankrom of Decibel Media Group)
Ryan: These are late (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=2710648#post271064 8).

okkervil river - this band crosses so many genres, from alt-country to rock to folk to whatever. i'm sure you can find something of theirs that you like.
the undertow orchestra - i missed their show at the mfa 'cause it was on valentine's day; but luckily, i found a bootleg. this is basically an indie rock supergroup: david bazan, vic chesnutt, mark eitzel, and will johnson. each member plays three of their songs while the others play and sing backup. once everyone has played their three songs, it repeats. that's a twenty-four song set. amazing. www.bradleysalmanac.com for the bootleg (and others).
13 & god - a collaberation between the notwist and themselves, this is (another) indie supergroup of sorts. hip-hop, indie, something. i like it. a lot.
kind of like spitting - i know, i know, i know. but hear me out: i saw ben perform a solo show on wednesday, and it was the most amazing thing i had ever seen. he played last, in the corner of the room. no stage, no mic, no amp. just singing at the top of his lungs. he made a lot of mistakes. half of his set was comprised of covers. and it was the most amazing thing i had ever seen. please, please, please try to see him live. he's gonna be doing a full-band tour in april; and from what he told me, it's gonna be quite the tour.
monk - this is a tv show on usa about an obsessive-compulsive detective. it's hilarious. watch it.

Some By Sea - This release could well be one of the year's best if the songs on PV are an indicator.
Strike.Fire.Fall - Just got the advance of the CD, and it is shit hot. Some of the more complex, layered rock you will hear. For fans of Lostprophets and Anadivine.

Bayside- Their Acoustic cd is better than their s/t. So be sure to pick it up this tuesday
The Gin Blossoms- Who is excited about their new cd? Their greatest hits has been rocking my ipod.
In Flames- I had the great chance to see this band in concert over the past week. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Be sure to listien to Clayman before you listien to Come Calrity. In my opinion Clayman is much better and can anyone cover In Flames?? Haha not possible.
This Providence- Excellant band when your not having a good day. You'll catch yourself singing a long. Can't wait for their new cd.
Saves The Day- I Can't wait for this cd. For some reason I keep checking my mailbox thinking it might come early.
]Watch
Empire Records- I wish I could work at a record store like that a little cheesy with the love plot throwen in there. But overall great movie.
Friday Night Lights- Why are you watching that right now?

Riveting. If you can suspend your disbelief at the end, it is every bit as good as the DaVinci Code.
