It is their right to protest. It isnt a right to be a public nuisance (sp). They are wasting many tax dollars in this protest that will only turn people against them. And who pays those tax dollars? Well, not them, because they dont have a job, so they can afford to go down and hold up a street on a wednesday at 10 am, and then spend the night there and spend all of thursday and friday blocking traffic. I got news for ya in most cities its more like 25% to 35% of protesters, how many got arrest in SF a little under 3,000 of how many, i heard about 10,000. so you do the math.

i don't think anyone here is disputing their right to protest, and i'm sure 90% of the protesters are peaceful, but the other 10% are acting irresponsibly and infringing on the rights of the citizens in their communities. instead of marching in the streets, why don't they do some volunteer work, something to help out the community and that would encourage people to listen to them, rather than allienating the very people they are trying to convince.

As people have said, my initial post wasnt about the peaceful protests, but the people who are disrupting life. I have no problem with ppls right to protest peacefully, and to use their opinions on the war in a productive way- e.g. alot of high schools are having debates in class which is encouraging young ppl to think about the conflict. I am writing from a small coastal town in Wales, United Kingdom, where ppl are lying down in traffic and boycotting university lessons. All this has achieved is to piss off taxi drivers, and to disrupt my lessons. People may have a right to protest but not to disrupt my education.
