Because the new album is coming out soon i figured this would be something nice to talk about.
Ive heard many times people get frustrated when they think of Brand New because their sudden complete change of style onto Deja Entendu.
Personally i have enjoyed the sequence of their albums. Its more than just a swift change of style to me but it shows how people and bands grow up and mature. In my opinion they are only getting better but i know there are a lot of people out there who wish they would have stuck with their first punk style of music. But even in that album there are tracks that are similar to some of the stuff of Deja Entendu.
Ill leave it for you guys to decide. Old Brand New or New Brand New?
oh, and what do you think their next album is going to sound like?

I really dont know how this ended up in the Entertainment (http://absolutepunk.net/forumdisplay.php?f=114) thread? I guess if an admin gets a chance maybe they can move it to the designated one. "music"
sorry.

I listened to Your Favorite Weapon the other day for the first time in at least 2 years. It did nothing for me besides Nostalgia. So glad they didn't stay that way. People need to grow up.

yeah, I agree. And more than that as artists I am sure they want to chalange themselves onto something more simply show us who they really are and what they are really thinking through their music. Even if that means changing their style.

Old and new is a bad differential considering the band has three albums. What if I think Deja Entendu is their best? Is that old or new?
Devil and God is obviously the best, so the answer is new, but still.

Well i meant styles more than anything. Early (old) brand New was pop punkeque.. I didnt think it'd get so technical lol
Every Brand New album has sounded pretty much completely different from the one that came before it, and I'm sure their new one will continue that trend. So it doesn't really work to try to break their albums down into "the old Brand New" and "the new Brand New" - they're all Brand New albums, they just happen to be vastly different. A "favorite album" poll would make a lot more sense, which I'm sure has been done hundreds of times already.

Why did we need another Brand New thread? In this forum particularly.
