Check out this offical press release from Victory Records regarding the signing of Four Letter Lie and Nights Like These:
Four Letter Lie has been gigging in high gear since the start of 2005 with shows on Taste of Chaos and Warped Tour as well as two recent national treks; and their crunching post-hardcore, not unlike bands like Underoath and Silverstein, is getting all the tighter from it. John Waltmann, bassist for Four Letter Lie, said, "We can't explain how excited we are to move forward as part of the Victory Records family. Victory Records and their roster has played a large part of inspiration for us as musicians. We see the light of many possibilities and we couldn't see any other label fit for us to reach those goals." Look for their Victory debut to hit stores in August and recording plans to be announced shortly. In the meantime, you can find Minneapolis-based Four Letter Lie out on tour this May with Glory Of This. For tour dates, music and more visit: www.myspace.com/fourletterlie.

Nights Like These fuses the full sonic spectrum of metal and hardcore into a ball of grinding, unforgiving heavy metal, then add their own southern flavor to it. Nights Like These call Memphis, Tennessee home, but are currently in Richmond, VA with Andreas Magnusson (The Black Dahlia Murder, Reflux, Gods) recording their first full-length CD for Victory Records. The new album (title to be announced) from Nights Like These will be in stores in mid-June ’06. "We are very excited to be working with Victory Records. This is probably one of the greatest things to happen in our lives and we are so glad for things to be going the way they are going. We have been long time fans of the label and are influenced even now by some of their artists. This opportunity is extremely humbling and we will definitely be making the most of this. Expect huge things to be coming for the band!" said vocalist Billy Bottom. Nights Like These have shared the stage with the likes of Poison the Well, Bury Your Dead, and The Red Chord – summer touring in support of their upcoming album will be non-stop. In typical Victory advertising style, they automatically try to lump the band with bigger named bands. Anyone else remember the straylight run cd have that huge sticker "For Fans of Taking Back Sunday?"

Victory signed these bands?

Shouldn't they be from Chicago then?

I guess they are trying something new this year. See, the difference between Victory and DTR signing a million bands, is that Victory only has "scene" problems...and a fucking crazy owner. DTR is juat an all around mess that doesn't seem to be doing anything besides planting seeds and not letting them grow...how's that for a metaphor?

Really Victory Records doesn't sign alot of bands. alot of them are inactive bands that are just disappeared example : (Madcap) Alot of the recent signee's are great such as FFL ,June, TJV, the forecast (everone give them a great review) .besides even the smaller bands get promoted very well. A smaller band on a major label doesnt get promoted well. DTR are just a mess. I think every1 knows that DTR has some great bands but just a mess in the offices.

not to mention the fact that there must be a hundred songs out that have some form of "times/days/moments like these..." in them. all around cliche and lame band name.

Its that time of year folks. Victory signs another 42 bands to put CDs out for the summer that no one will really know about because they wont promote new shit. They leave that to this website.

the REAL difference between these labels is that victory signs bands, and whether you like to admit it or not, these bands sell.

name a band on dtr that released a cd in the last year that actually re cooped..

not too many. thats why dtr is broke and victory is making money.

cut DTR some slack... they are stuck in a bad distribution deal which in turn makes their bands cd's cost a lot in what stores you can actually find them in... thus record sales suffer, and considering thats how they make their money, obviously they're not doing very well right now... but it's not their fault... you have to consider that DTR has done great things, and found some great bands... they we're robbed away, but they hand that picks them is still there... they're just in a slump... but mark my words,... they will come back like Green Day did after their slump of sub-par records (sales wise)
