Yeah it's really entertaining. You should find it.
An amazing movie. It was written by Stephen King, but it's not a horror movie. It has Tom Hanks and Michael Clark Duncan in it. It's about a black slave who has the power to heal.
Hahahahahahaha.

I voted for Pulp Fiction.

Rear Window, far and away, followed by Dr. Strangelove.

Honestly, Return of the King, Godfather Part 2, Shawshank or Empire Strikes Back. All four of those do me fine, even though none of them would make it to my top five.

Dr. Strangelove.

Honestly, it's entertaining, but it doesn't hold up to the test of time as well as some older films. Comedies (Which it generally is, even though more specifically it's a satire) seem to transition significantly worse than other genres. Peter Sellers is the man in it, but at the same time, I kept falling asleep. Don't stereotype me however, I do love a lot of older films, this just had pacing issues and was rather...overhyped. Everyone says the War Room quote, but it's really just not that good of a quote. Sort of can be said for the movie also.

because the war room scene is one of the most memorable scenes.

how about this instead:

"Fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous communist plot we have ever had to face."

oh well, I think Strangelove was great and I dont think it is overhyped at all. just my opinion.

hobbes2809

I like old movies, what's it about?

its about a bunch of poor farmers in a village that is going to be under attack by bandits, so they scrape together whatever food they can spare and try to recruit seven unemployed samurai to help them defend themselves

Story-telling at its finest, "Seven Samurai" is a terrific film not because of a handful of memorable scenes or lines, but rather because scene-by-scene, frame-by-frame, it tells an interesting story as well as it is possible to tell it. The story and characters are developed carefully, and everything about the movie, from the settings and props to the musical score, is done carefully and expertly.

The story always moves along nicely, with many ups and downs. It has enough unpredictability to keep you interested the whole time, without ever losing its credibility. There is plenty of action, but there is also substance behind the action to give it more significance. The only possible drawback is the long running time (you can always split it up into two installments, but it's more satisfying if you can watch the whole story through at once), but there is little that you could cut out, even if you wanted to. It holds your attention the entire time with a good story and great technique, not by resorting to sensational or sordid details.

This movie well deserves its reputation for excellence, and is one that everyone who appreciates classic cinema will want to see and enjoy.

it can be hard to find, because for some reason the "official" dvds cost like $40.

I got a gray market copy from chinatown for $5, bad translation, but still worth watching

while you're at it, look for The Hidden Fortress. That's the movie George Lucas ripped off for Star Wars
