I so love Led Zep, whenever I listen to them I get shivers, his gorgeous voice....I have to be in the right mood though...you know those late nights when you just want to listen to music all night and not go to sleep and you're maybe a little drunk and the music just sounds like the best thing you've ever heard?? I love those nights.....:)

I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothing, but The Who kicks ass.

If you get the reference, you rock.

i went with led zeppelin

i don't know if any of you heard this story but over in england a rock radio station held a contest where you voted for the best: singer, guitarist, bassists, and drummer to make 'the ultimate fantasy rock band'. you had a chance basically of any of the greats and all individually, entirely exclusive from one another and the winners were:
Singer: Robert Plant
Guitarists: Jimmy Page
Bassist: John Bonham
Drummer: John Paul Jones

i thought that was pretty BAMF and an interesting little anectdote.
vote who you will but i 'let the led out' with led zeppelin

zeppelin.
while all members of the who are talented, i think john paul jones deserves a crazy amount of credit. it takes a lot of skill to keep up with some of the licks that jimmy page plays.

Zeppelin because the last minute of Stairway to Heaven is, in my opinion, the greatest minute ever in rock and roll. They also have really good albums too.

oh jesus, fuck the doors.

its one thing when a band gets high and writes, especially back in their heyday. but when you cant write WITHOUT IT...

whatever.

The Who is for those who wanna have some straightforward rockin fun.
Zeppelin is for those who wanna have an interpretive indulgent rockin experience.

I prefer the latter

anyone who said that the who had a better drummer either don't have ears are just plain ignorant. go watch moby dick from disc 1 of the newest zep DVD. that should quell any of those arguments pretty quick.

i know everyone always praises page and plant but most every zeppelin song I can help but notice john paul jones' driving bass, esp. Rock and Roll.

You can never have too much Zeppelin

Come on...Keith Moon better than John Bonham?? Not a chance..

Both bands are great, but Zeppelin is just that much better

The obvious plagiarism all over LZ I, the atrocious vocals of Robert Plant and the over-indulgent self wanking of Jimmy Page's guitar never allowed me to take this band seriously. The Who have long been regarded as a member of the Holy Trinity of British rock, alongside the Beatles and the Stones. LZ fans remind me of the Eloi in the original Time Machine movie. No matter what the fans of the band follow it blindly like a moth to a flame. LZ understood this and gratuitously paid tribute their fans. Check the cover of Houses of the Holy. The very fact this question is under debate really tweaks my melon..

The blatant plagiarism was not confined to the first album. It was a constant throughout their entire career. There was nothing original about Zep at all. The only innovation this band ever provided was the mud shark incident.

The Who is waaaaay better than Led. Keith Moon s only behind Neil Peart as the best drummer of all-time. Boneham is third. Page and Plant are ridiculously overrated.

How in the world are Moon and Entwhistle better than Bonham and Jones? I love the Who, but nobody was better than Bonzo and Jones' arrangements are second to none. In my opinion, Zeppelin is the best band of all time because they arguably have the four best performers in their field.

I could easily make the case that Plant is the best singer of a rock band ever. There are definitely other great singers, but none had the range, the emotion, the guttaral scream and the persona wrapped into one like Plant.

Bonzo is hands down the best drummer ever. His beats, uncanny ability to combine different disciplines and sheer ferocity make him head and shoulders above everyone else.

Jones' ability to play, arrange and compose, to me, makes him the premiere bassist. Add onto that his keyboard ability and I like him.

The toughest to argue is Page. Most will agree, probably myself included, that Hendrix is simply the greatest guitar player that has lived. His ability outshines all when it comes to pure guitar playing. But I can argue that over the course of 11 years and 8 albums that what Page produced as a guitar player in terms of both playing the instrument and writing the wildly varying songs, he could very well be the best guitarist of all time.

It's super easy to blatantly criticize without any form of evidence to back up your claims. Wanna know just how easy it is? Listen up:

Your musical taste/opinion has no credibility unless you respect (don't have to like, just respect) Zeppelin and what they've done. Period.

Back up your shit.

I went with Zeppelin because they have more solid albums than The Who in my opinion. I could listen to I, II, III and IV for the rest of my life and be totally content. The Who is still fucking awesome though, Who's Next is one of my favorite albums, but I like Led Zeppelin just a little more.

I love both bands but The Who is my favorite. Keith Moon was the one who came up with the name Led Zeppelin in the first place. Jimmy Page wanted the band to be him and Beck on guitars and Moon/Entwistle for their rhythm section which led Moon to say "the band will go over like a lead zeppelin".

Who > Led Zeppelin.

The bassist is John Paul Jones, and John Bonham was drummer, just so you know.

Who > Led Zeppelin.

No it was not like that at all, Jimmy Page had asked John Paul Jones to play with him because they're old time studio pals. Then John heard from someone about Robert Plant's vocal skills when he played for The Band of Joy, and he checked him out and liked him and asked him to play. Then Robert Plant knew Bonzo, and asked him to play, and thats how it happened. Jimmy Page knew who The Who was because of his time with the Yardbirds, and when the Who was asked what they think of Zeppelin after they started getting some attention, thats what Keith Moon said.

Congratulations for being an idiot.
