I'm not doing a pay league this year. It's a pain in the ass to coordinate, people never pay on time, and I'm sick of finishing first in the regular season to be knocked out in the playoffs. If you want to trust somebody else with your money (good luck) go for it, otherwise, it'll just be the one free league this year I think.

right on, i only just recently realized that like 5 of their top veterans are gone this year, so all those turnovers and touchdowns they created last year wont happen again this year. i think im just gonna have to make pickups based on the matchup.

I love the Ryan/Roddy duo. I always like to get a good QB/WR connection every year.

yeahh man i think ryan's gonna tear it up this year. i love seeing a rookie quarterback who is actually smart with the ball and i think that becuase teams are gonna restructure their defenses to better account for turner, that matt's passing opportunities are going to increase. since i already had roddy, the tandem was my dealbreaker for drafting matt.

Did a mock draft the other night (first draft I've done this year). I'm not doing any real drafts til mid-late August. Here's the team I ended up with (12 team). I wish I had this in a 12 team league. My only issue is depth. But that's what mocks are for: practice.

there's really no point because you're likely not going to get the same spot you did in the mock draft and people aren't going to draft the same way either. it's basically something to just hold you over until the real draft starts. but to say it helps your strategy...i'm not really sure how.

This is what I'm confused about.

I think they exist so you can gauge where people are taking certain players. If you do a few mock drafts, and people are taking certain guys around the same time, then chances are when you finally have your real draft you have a VERY GENERAL idea of where those guys are going to go so you can plan accordingly.

I plan on taking Peterson as the guy who had him quit the league, but I can't stand Peterson. My friend who is a big Vikings fan picks after me so I may shop him to him, but my real target is Drew Brees + a player for Peterson.

There are 10 teams, 6 points for all touchdowns (except special teams I learned that the hard way with Bush last year), a point for every 10 yards receiving/rushing plus a 5 point bonus at 100 yards, and a point for every 25 yards passing plus a 5 point bonus at 300 yards.

Any suggestions with going about trading A Pete? As I said I don't want to keep him, and I think I want to get a sure thing at quarterback so that is probably my target in a trade. The other option is always just drafting Tom Brady, but I can't stand just letting Peterson fall right to my Vikings buddy and giving him the joy of drafting him, haha.

I think if you can get Brees and a solid RB, you should go for it. And I'm not so sure I'd draft Brady as high as I would've 2 years ago.

yeah theres no way brady wont be rusty. one year is a long time to be out of touch with your throwing arm, and a lot of quarterbacks come out of long injuries as hardly even a silhouette of their former skillsets -- carson palmer, trent green, and daunte culpepper, to name a few. brady is better and deserves more credit than any of those three, but you cant expect anything close to '07 numbers with him. i bet he will underperform for at least the first 6 weeks of this season.

1/2 point per reception and he still terrible. I want a RB who can run. If he's grabbing 800-100 yards rushing then sure, but 400 and 400....the 26 points a got from receptions last year isn't worth shit.

no, i've been in MLB leagues with my friends on ESPN and with you guys on Yahoo for the past couple years. From my experience, ESPN far exceeds Yahoo. maybe if buy stat tracker on yahoo it's about equal, but yea i really like ESPN.

I can't figure how to pick out the players randomly on Yahoo, or how many per position we are allowed. The Mock Drafts were all filled last night so I didn't get to practice. This is my first year doing it.

For the starting lineup, you need a QB, two RB, three WR, one TE, one K, and the defense/special teams. Then you have 7 backup slots if I'm not mistaken. You can have whatever you want in the backups as long as your starting lineup is correct.

Yeah, it's not a blind draft. You can pick whoever you want. If they're in the NFL, they're there.

no idea what your league manager set it at. some people like it fast and some just keep the custom setting. I'd imagine at least 1 minute I hope. but yeah once you sign in to go to the draft and click enter live draft and huge javascript app opens up with tons of shit, it looks totally different than the league page. in the live draft you will also be able to have a que list and pull guys aside that you want while others are drafting. you should have plenty of time.
