View Full Version : Why there will never be another Jordan...
i see all the time these players being compared to jordan (kobe, lebron, mcgrady), i was thinking about it today and realized there will never be another jordan, now i think kobe's skills are just as good as jordan, he is a better outside shooter and is just as good at penetrating, but there will never be another jordan for the simple fact that there are so many players taking 25-30 shots a game and averaging 30 points a game, i mean gilbert arenas? come on.
my point is that there are too many players averaging this many points, when jordan played it was jordan and there was no one you could compare him to, but now you have mcgrady, lebron, kobe, carter, paul pierce, gilbert arenas, iverson, etc., the game is becoming one of superstars, their teams suck but they get the name recognition, their will never be that one standout player until the league becomes more team oriented (pistons and spurs are obviously exempt because they are all about team)

Jordan was still better then Kobe in the fact that he made all his teammates better. He also had a better FG% then Kobe. Kobe is talented but I don't see him ever being better then Jordan in any category.

uhh. cool. there will never be another jordan because there is no next jordan. lebron james will be the next lebron james and kobe is the next kobe. there is no reason to compare these players to michael jordan. why compare to jordan, because he was obviously the best player in the league at the time? who wants that, who wants one best player. i would rather have bird vs. magic and wilt vs. russell any day. in the next couple years, we're gonna have wade, lebron, kobe, pierce, bosh, howard, carmelo, etc. in or near the peak of their careers.

i agree with doug, and ill take it one step further and say there will never be another jordan because jordan dominated a piss poor NBA at his ultimate peak. think about it, who was the next best player.... Barkley? Drexler's rotting corpse on the Trailblazers? Ewing and Starks? i mean, the bulls didn't exactly have hefty competition.

I'd actually rather see one dominating player. I've lost all interest in pro bball and havent watched a full game in a few years. Jordan just had this intangible about him that made you want to watch their games. No player gives that right now.

Of course there are. I don't have a team, I watch games based on players, and I will watch games with Kobe, Lebron, McGrady, Iverson, and a few others because they're great to watch. The closest thing to a whole team I'll watch is Phoenix, because of Nash/Amare/Marion

this is what my mind wanted to get at while originally writing my post, but because i was in class, i was half paying attention to both.

you lost interest in basketball because between the time of jordan retiring the second time up until a couple years ago, there wasn't much to see. basketball is sweet again, there are some fucking awesome young players right now, and the young guys from 5-10 years ago are at their absolute peak.

the fact that people still regard starks as good is reason enough
