View Full Version : I Hid Three Ne-Yo CDs Today, You?

Jason Tate

HitsDailyDouble (http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news06077) is reporting Ne-Yo to sell 275-300k albums first week and Hawthorne Heights (http://www.absolutepunk.net/hawtorneheights) to push 100-110k. They go on to hint at Victory not having the album on iTunes as a factor in why the album will not sell more. Read it all right here (http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news06077).

I fucking work at an FYE in NJ and some douchebag or douchebags took all of the Hawthorne Heights in the Punk/Ska section and placed it over the Ne-Yo cd's on the Urban Top 20. If shit is gonna sell, it's gonna sell. Sure I throw in my two sense to some customers in what to purchase, such as NOY or some Morrissey, but I would never talk anyone out of purchasing something they enjoy. Oh...except Hawthorne Heights.

i think tony brummel and ne-yo should have a fight to the death. they each get one weapon. tony gets his mouth, and ne-yo gets a fucking machete. then we let darwin decide the winner.

after i read that shit that the victory street team got, ive lost any last bit of respect i once had for those fucking ass bags.

go steve jobs and iTunes. down with tony brummel.

See, that's just a secret tactic used by Victory to maximize sales. Tell your street team to hide HH CDs in the rap section so none of their fans can find it. You'd think this tactic wouldn't work... but... yeah... it doesn't.

a Brummel/Ne-Yo showdown would be excellent.

I could see the news report now...: "The Brummel/Ne-Yo fight appeared to be all square after three rounds until a five-person mob stormed the ring and took control of the "Brummel-Pummel." Ne-Yo and this entourage, only identified by a moniker "TBS" were declared victorious via TKO. Cindy?"

"Thanks Tom. On a related note, PETA was contacted after it appeared a few hundred killer whales were found dead shortly after the Tony Brummel/Ne-Yo fight. Everyone was later relieved to learn that it was only a few hundred teenage girls clad in Hawthorne Heights t-shirts. Cause of death was later determined to be, quote, 'cut wrists and blacked eyes.' Tom?"

"Well Cindy,it looks like we're all winners after this bout, not just Ne-Yo. [Insert Laugh Track] We'll be right back."

"I hear all this screaming, from these kids in their 'bands'
They think theyre playing music till i cut off their hands,
Im stuck in New York City, and time keeps dragging on
But that train it keeps a-rollin on down to Dayyyytoooon

When I was just a baby, my momma told me son
Always be a good boy, try and have some fun
So I shot a bunch of emos, just to watch them die.
When I hear that pussy music, I hang my head and cry"

yeah, but I think FOB will sell more overall. HH will have a great first week, but I think they already found a lot of their audience with their first album. FOB didn't have as large a teen following until after the record was released, thus why it kept selling 40-60k a week.

"Hip-Hop" > "THE BATTLE CRY FOR R0CK!!!" - needless to say that whoever won (because you know as well as I do that to sole purpose for making an album in the first place is those first week sales) it was going to be sad news.

Ne-Yo is an R&B producer who has written/produced songs for such R&B heavyweights as Mary J. Blige and Usher. He just came out with his own debut album on Tuesday, and the first single is pretty solid and nicely arranged for a lot of the restraints that modern R&B seems to have. I'm probably going to pick it up today.

I work at a Target in NJ, and I know i've rung up at least 30 Ne-Yo cds, and I haven't had anyone come to my lane with a Hawthorne Heights cd. I know that might not mean much, but it definitely says something.

I want a good band to get the #1 slot anyway.

The fact that some kids actually take what Tony Brummel says as legit is absolutely fucking scary. This guy is out of his mind. I mean launching a campaign within your street team to hide the CD's of other artists so that you can come in at Number 1 instead of Number 2? I mean, honestly, this is so fucking stupid, to the point where when I read the E-Mail he sent to the street team I wanted to punch a fucking wall. This is music man, and yea, the industry is probably the most fucked up thing ever, but if you play dirty shit ass tactics like this not only do you look just as lame as the ignorant execs that run the majors, but your cred goes out the fucking window. I mean, this makes me not want to buy another Victory release ever (not that I would), which is just really fucking sad and lame. To support Tony Brummel would NOT be to support "ROCK" music from "returning", it would be to support bigotry and underhanded scheming. Fuck Victory.

Which raises the question, does HH really NEED a street team?
