my question is, are we really giving the people of iraq what they want? we all know that saddam is a terrible person and does not treat his people well, this has never been argued, however it comes down to the people's perception of him. as a student of business, when you try to introduce a product into a market that has never seen such a product, such as democracy and a free market economy, because you see it as a need, but do so with little market analysis, the product usually fails.
people in 3rd world countries who need protein often won't purchase protein substitutes, people who need water purifiers because their water is undrinkable often won't use them. why? because market penetration was not executed in a way that convinced these people that they needed these products, even though they were truly needs. so what makes us think that an americanized government and free market economy will be any different?
just a different take on things that i thought could bring about an interesting discussion on an americanized government in post-war iraq.
