yeah, I saw them last tour, and I'm seeing them this tour. all the old songs I got last time were Wooden Soldiers and Storms, everything else was new. Hoping for Canyon Lands at the very least this time, it was so good the first time I saw them live.

I don't think they'll be playing Soldiers on this tour. With Charlie and Ryan gone, it wouldn't work out. As for Canyon Lands, I think it might be the same situation.

I like Person L, but it seems like they don't care. Their live show is esquisit, and they make wonderful songs, and by all means that is what it should be about. But I would like to see more fan interaction, via the web. They always hang out after shows and are soo nice, but that only gets to happen once maybe every 3 months. In today's world of technology and up to date news, these guys fail to have decent updates or blogs, an interesting website or myspace page, and hardly any publicity from TV airplay, Radio, online video interviews, or just fun fan videos for fans. They havent released any new material in over a year, and have an album dropping this fall with no songs yet to be heard, no release date, no artwork, etc.

I am having a hard time following and even caring about these guys when I get to see them MAYBE once every 3-5 months and only 8 songs to follow.

Yeah they should. How do you think they promote themselves? Its 2009, do you think Ken Vasoli is putting ads in media? Doing TV interviews? You have to be accessible to fans or else they lose interest. Coming to town once every few months is great, but long stretches of nothing makes me lose interest. Sorry, but its not "whoring" themselves, its called accesssibility. It wouldnt hurt them to throw up a new song once in awhile.

That's the problem. Artists these days are so forgettable that they have to constantly remind their fans they exist or people like you will lose interest. Bands should spend more time focusing on their craft than focusing on getting more Twitter followers. "Buzz" shouldn't have to be forced through the internet by the artists themselves.

Dude, all I said in the first place was that they should have updated their myspace page once and awhile, or more often. By update I mean more frequent blog entries, maybe a new song, pictures, or a video. I never said anything about Twitter and weird of you to say "people like me", like from reading a few sentences over the internet you can pick out what kind of person I may be. It doesn't even have to be that big of deal. I just mentioned that it is really hard to keep up with a band, or to even hold interest with limited material and accessibility for almost 2 years. Not everybody can make it to every show either. You think that Kenny doesn't spend more time 'focusing on their craft'? I understand that. I know he isn't the type of guy to have blogs, videos, twitter, or a 'buzz'. And I certainly don't need that, I was just saying I am starting to lose interest because I have 8 of their songs and have seen them twice in 2 years.

Now that that's cleared up, they had that layout to go along with the release of Initial. Flash back to a little more than a year later, and now they have a new layout for The Positives, and they'll probably stick with it until another album is released, which will most likely be a year from now. As for the updates, an update was posted in July while they were on their 3rd full US tour. A month later, an update was posted about Kenny going to Australia. I repeat, Australia. Did I mention they are an independent band? Anyways, a little more than a month after that, we have a new song, new layout (I don't fully see what a layout has to do with a band's ability to keep fans in the loop, but oh well), and new tour dates (I should add that these dates are just the tip of the iceberg for the months to come). 2 albums in 2 years, plenty of touring, and an update every month? If you ask me, I'd say these guys are definitely on track.

You're still defending Person L and their lack of ability to keep in touch with fans. Like I said, and this is the last time i repeat myself, Not everyone can make it to every tour. A full US tour? Not all of us live near large cities. The 2 times I could have seen them was once when I had to work the next day at 7 am and the next it was a solo set, which i didnt want to drive 3 hours for. I know, too bad for me. Dude, an Australia update doesn't mean shit to me. Their myspace has had the same 5 songs since they put up the page, minus the live version of Goodness. What does them being independent have to do with a new song, video, or interview? Nothing. It's not 2 albums in 2 years. It was 6 new songs released in August 2008 (I had Sunshine and Storms for ever before that) and then whatever they release in November.

I'll wait for your shitty rebuttle.

There is no lack of ability to keep in touch with fans. They shouldn't have to update a Myspace status or post a blog to satisfy people like you. Going to Australia shows that they've got plenty of activity considering they don't have a label funding everything for them, which is why I bring both of those things up. The main purpose of the songs that they have uploaded is to give people a sample of the band's music. That and showcase new songs, and that's exactly what they've been doing. They aren't obligated to post entire albums or new songs every month. Everyone had Sunshine and Storms before Initial was released, and that's usually how new songs work. Whether you had two songs prior to the release or not, Initial is an album, and so is The Positives. Add those up and I believe you've got two.

By the way, when you say "Not all of us live near large cities," I assume you're referring to yourself. That's interesting because I see "TWIN CITIES" right next to your name. They're playing Minneapolis the night The Positives is released. Enjoy yourself...

Man, you just won't get off my back. All I said was that I was losing interest in Person L because they don't have shit for songs (8 track collection) and they only have a few decent videos online, they also seem to be very hands-off when it comes to promoting themselves. You are just digging way too deep on this.

I remember early TSL days they would come out with videos on thestartinglinerock.com on a weekly basis. Just a little something to keep ya following, maybe sustain a little bit of interest.

Going to Australia doesn't mean much for the band. Obviously if the band had money they would all be going. You know Kenny has TSL cash stashed up, that's why he is the only one going.

Yes, I can add up the two albums, but it's an 8 track album and a full length released in a 15 month span, not 2 albums in 2 years.

And by the way, I don't live in the Twin Cities anymore, it's where I am from, and where I lived my whole life until recently. I live in Duluth Minnesota now. Its not on the top of my list to update where I live on my absolutepunk.net profile. Sorry to dissapoint.

I dont really know how to explain it I guess. Sometimes in the Music Industry bands are great bands but aren't the best at making music. I think that TSL made their mark with some very kick ass tunes, their music wasn't really groundbreaking or revolutionary. I guess the same can be said of Person L, but I think that collectivly, Person L has 5 great musicians, not just people who can play guitar really well.

To say the least, TSL's catelouge consists of powerchords and simple drum beats. In Person L you can tell that its a band of raw musicians with talent. Ryan and Brian both come from great musical backgrounds and we all know about Kenny.

TSL just was better band. Pretty Boy Matt, Bad-ass Mike, quiet Tom, and crazy Kenny..( and later on I guess Brian?). Personalities and Matt stage right and Mike stage left, and Young spunky Kenny made them a great 'Band'. Collectively Person L makes more interesting music and you can tell that it is a band of guys who are great musical minds.

KevinForReal

Wait. Goodness Gracious Video? As in Music Video? What?!?

Hey, sidenote question... I bought Initial on Itunes right when it came out last summer... And in November of 2008 I dropped my laptop and the harddisk broke, so i had to get it replaced, losing all my pictures, songs, etc. I had Initial on my Ipod, but somehow my Ipod was cleared of all songs, leaving me without the album. Is there anyway I could get it back via Itunes or anything? Im not super opposed to buying it again, but if anyone knows how i can get it back that would be bomb.

I honestly believe that Person L is one of the best bands around right now. Their music is so unbelievably incredible and really unlike anything else being made. I've seen them 12 times and each time I'm blown away. I've had the chance to hang out with them a lot and am happy to call them friends. Everyone in the band is super nice and down to earth as well as ridiculously talented. My band, The Climate, had the pleasure of opening for them in Cleveland last week and it was one of the best nights I've had. I see so many good things for this band in the future and I honestly cannot say enough praise for them. If you don't like them or haven't given them the chance then I am truly sorry for you cause you are missing out. Long live the L!

For me, it feels more dynamic, also that it's longer. The way the album flows and how different the songs are from each other makes it a great record I think. Also, I think Goodness Gracious is the best song Kenny Vesoli has ever written.

The thing I love about Ken Vasoli is that he sets the bar higher with each and every thing he releases. From With Hopes of Starting Over all the way up to The Positives, his musical intelligence just keeps getting better. Not to downplay the bands he has played with and have contributed, but I am just blown away by how good he keeps getting. You don't have to love everyone of his songs, but damn, his material just keeps getting better and better-

Songwriting has begun for a new LP, but he and the band are in the process of working on an EP that seems very interesting. The idea is to go a bit lo-fi and use not only common objects to build instrumentally, but use lo-fi recording techniques as well. He hopes to have that EP out by the end of the year
