View Full Version : Which band is better?
Which is an all around better band?
I'm currently on a Death Cab For Cutie binge, but I can always rely on both.
I think both bands are fronted by amazing guys, who write some of the greatest lyrics of my generation.
What do you guys think?

I feel awkward saying one is better than the other.. . So I'll say most of the time I can relate more to Death Cab ha. But I enjoy both, and I might change my mind later. But for now, it's def Death Cab.

Two of my top 5 bands. I'll have to say BE though, if only because I'm Wide Awake is damn close to a perfect album.

it's weird. last summer i loved death cab, but now i can't get into them at all. i wish ben would stop writing about damn relationships. i suppose the last album was a step in the right direction. if i do listen to death cab these days, it's pre-transatlanticism stuff. so, i went bright eyes, because i'm wide awake is absolutely incredible.

Transatlanticism, and Plans are two of my favorite albums.

That's why I love him so.
He writes in a way the reaches me, emotionally.
But I'm wide awake, it's morning is a damn near perfect album.

last summer i was having chick problems, and this summer i have gone kerouac on everyone's ass. meaning i'm not really connected to any lady friends. so thats probably my reasoning. i'll still always by new dcfc though.
lifted was a great one, too.

Not necessarily the biggest fan of either but I'd say Death Cab probably has a slight edge as a band

Plans is probably the easiest to like right away but Transatlanticism is their best I think. When I first got into Death Cab Transatlanticism was the first record of theirs i listened to and I really liked it.

I'm probably a bigger Bright Eyes fan, but I have to say that Death Cab for Cutie is a better and more consistent band. I was thoroughly dissapointed by Cassadaga (and I'm not sure how high my hopes are for their last album)

Transatlanticism, then move on to Plans, then Narrow Stairs, then check out their pre-Transatlanticism stuff, then the new EP that was released a short while ago. :D

I love Bright Eyes, but I'm completely understanding of the fact that Conor Oberst has never created anything close to Transatlanticism, Plans, and Narrow Stairs.

Lifted is pretty damn awesome. Atleast better than 2 of those albums, especially lyrically.

Lifted is great, dont get me wrong, but imo it's not better than Plans or Narrow Stairs (which I'm assuming were the 2 albums you were referring to). Those albums are amazing lyrically just like Lifted is, and you're definitely not going to tell me Lifted is better instrumentally. Balanced out, those albums are just better. But good call on Lifted.

I love both, but Bright Eyes blows Death Cab away in sheer talent. The instrumentation complexity is blatantly obvious, not to mention the superior lyrics to boot.

I've tried to listen to Bright Eyes but I can really only tolerate seven songs or so.
Lyrically, it's great, but I just can't enjoy listening to most of it.
