this thread is blow out of proportion. what is the poll supposed to prove? the disparity between 2 states? which state puts out better music? or which one is better to live in?

i've lived in NYC, NJ and have visited N Cali and SoCal many times

CA( especially N Cali) gets my vote for the natural beauty and CA in general gets my vote for its Spanish influenced architecture and the designs of cities and the residential areas. But the drivers in CA are horrible, I mean fucking terrible drivers but, that can be said for all the drivers that reside in states outside of the NY-NJ-PA-Boston regions.

Food in CA sucks ass. Mexican is okay but, come on i cant eat that shit all of the time. The Italian food in CA is so not what it is in on the Eastcoast but, that is mainly due to the large number of Guidos on the East and Beaners on the West.

I would love to move to N Cali one day myself but purely for its beauty and not its ppl. As ppl in CA are very pretentious and superficial. And everyone over in CA is trying to keep up with Jones, like one has to do the next ones party etc. etc.

I love CA and its beauty. Food and ppl eehh not so great.

Me personally, NYC is the best fucking place in the US.


NJ- it is a shithole in some of the places but has great places like Princeton, Cape May, Alpine, Short Hills etc. etc.

I would stay in NJ for one reason only----- chance to make a lot of money and being close to gargantuam of wealth... i havent done justice for NJ or NYC in this thread. ill come back to it i guess cuz right now the Philly is getting spanked and i love it...I hate PHL teams

i live in jersey and ive been to cali... here it is plain and simple. cali is beautiful, but so is jersey in its own way. jersey has BETTER BEACHES, BETTER SAND, AND SEASHELLS!!!!! calis beaches suck they were infested with flies. theyre idea of a board walk was a sidewalk along the beach. btw jersey shore is NOT dirty. thats where im from its actually a beautiful place and u cant always go by what u see on tv. people from cali SUCK. they think they're hot when i didnt even see one attractive person there the whole time and my own father even agreed with me. theyre air heads and suck at driving. jersey is def number 1 cali barely gets rain and the stars arent that bright in cali plus we have thunderstorms all the time in the summer which are amazing to see. and wawa. end of story.

I haven't seen this thread in such a long time. I actually ended up moving to CA from NJ and a lot of the stereotypes are pretty damn right going both ways :-d. Weather is warmer here - no seasons though which sucks. Food is way better in NJ (can I get a goddamn decent slice of pizza?!!), buds (NJ got medical now though ya never know lol) are better here, beaches (sand) are better in CA, but beaches (boardwalk/fun) is better in NJ. Music is a toss up - I grew up down the street from a legendary NJ venue (Eugene's in Vineland) and live down the street from a legendary venue (Chain Reaction) in CA now. People from the east coast have a different type of attitude towards things, I connect with it, it's not better or worse, just different.

Anyway, I can't choose which I like better. Home is comfortable, home is what I'm used to, but both states are overwhelmingly cooler/better to grow up in than the other 48 states spread across the union so be happy if you're actually involved in this argument and you're not from Wisconsin or Idaho or something.

First of all nj are being compared because they are so similar. If u like it or not they are generally the same shape, it's an east coast west coast rivalry, they r both beach states( the 2 most popular in the country)( not including Florida ) they both have great rich areas and both have slumy areas.

Ok so I'm from wealthy pa and have a house in San Clemente ca and Avalon nj. Personaly I like nj more because like where I live, people in the oc have terrible misconceptions with this area of the east coast (phily, south nj).
-first it's hotter here than it is in socal from April to October it's 90s every day while along the coast in San Clemente it's in the 70s most of the summer. And the way we r situated geographically we miss much of the rain and cold weather that gets stuck on the other side of the mountains.

-2nd I agree Newark is shitty but it is meant to be an industrial city. The smog in la is just as bad if not worse on some days and it's not even an industrial city so there is no excuse.
-as for the beaches... Not many california natives know that the water in the summer in jersey is warmer than the water in even San Diego at the same time. And on top of that there are even palm trees in south nj beach towns like Avalon.
The waves are decent in Avalon nj. I will admit that Cali waves are at times better but I like both.
- Also people have been sayin the highways r ugly... Well like californias pacific coast highway nj has a costal road called the garden state parkway. Driving south on the parkway has to be one of the nicest drives around because itsso lush and natural.

-tv... I have to argue that all of the nj shows just play up a stereotype and don't represent the whole state because they r all filmed in north jersey close to NY. My friends have talked about it and agree that if MTV were to do a reality show in Avalon , stone harbor or cape may, the show would b a lot like laguna beach. With teens in their 8 million dollar mansions. The southern beaches r a lot less trashy in general.

On top of everything we don't have earthquakes, mudslides, and wildfires. I like Cali but respect nj more cause it got backbone!

If Cali got all the bs that nj gets they it would have already fallen in the ocean by now.
