so, who do you think will be the four number one seeds?
i think duke, uconn and nova are definites. but who grabs the fourth one.
there's decent arguments for and against texas, gonzaga, memphis and ohio state.
i think memphis gets it. but if ohio state wins the big ten tourney, it'll be hard not to give it to them.
thoughts?

In my mind, it comes down to Texas and OSU if either team can win out. Pittsburgh would have had an excellent chance had they beaten West Virginia, however they obviously did not. Still, don't count out Gonzaga (again, if they win out). Save any upsets in the WAC tourney, they'll probably be the favorites. I'll be interested to see where George Washington lands.

i think they will. but if ohio state wins out, winning the big ten regular season and big ten tourney, i think it'd be hard to overlook them.
big ten is much stronger than c-usa. and the uab loss fresh in memory may hurt them too.

Texas lost to A&M, and thus lost their chance at a 1 seed. GW and Gonzaga will get 2 seeds, probably along with OSU and Texas...I still think Memphis is the legit front-runner, their losses are away to Duke, Texas, and now UAB in a close one. They'll stin win the C-USA tourney, and that makes them a 1 seed.
OSU is probably the only other team that has a legit shot at the #1 spot, if they cruise to the Big 10 tourney. Gonzaga just has too many close games against weaker opponents and they also have a loss to Memphis.

Nova isn't a lock, but unless they lose in the first game in the Big East, they will get it. Memphis should get the 4th.

Both very true, and the seeders love their RPI stats, and Ohio State was 1 ahead of Memphis before this loss. I think being 25/26-4 in the Big 10 is an impressive feat, I just don't think OSU has any legit wins out of conference. I mean, LSU, VT, and Iowa State are the only teams I note, and only one of them is finding the tourney. Memphis has 3 top 10 teams outside of conference, including a win against Gonzaga and a close loss to Duke.
Also note that with that high profile win, UAB will probably find the Top 25 (Houston got in with similar type wins earlier in the season, even with a loss to VCU), so that will look even better for Memphis, losing to a top 25'er

Agree with all of this. Memphis is a #1 seed if they win out, no matter what OSU does in the Big Ten tournament. However, here's an interesting debate I think is being overlooked as a possibility ..
If Villanova loses before the Big East finals (entirely possible given the strength of the league) and Memphis + Ohio State win there respective conference tournaments ....does Nova fall to a #2 seed? I think they do. A loss to anyone but UConn will hurt them and when you combine that w/ Memphis and OSU winning, I think Nova becomes the odd man out. I think Duke and UConn are the only two teams safe at #1.

duke, uconn, nova.
and if memphis stumbles again before the end of the season and ohio state runs through the big ten tourny, they should move into the 4th #1 seed spot.

i think nova is safe if they win at least 2 or 3 games in the tourney (depending on who the play)

well i still think if they lose their first game they won't get the 1, that is if OSU stays hot
