Don't hate on the Pirates man. They have the potential to be good. Plus, Jason Bay is the shit.

But of course, the Pirates will probably trade away all their good young talent.

Yeah I know. The Pirates have a young pitching staff that can be really good. The hitting's sometimes there. Pirates always have good field play.

The best I can see the Pirates doing this year is FINALLY getting over .500. (Thats so sad)

Wilson and Castillo up the middle are 2nd to none. Huge upgrade at 3rd with Randa. Casey is adequate at 1st. Duffy will be great defensively in center and Bay is Bay in left. I hate the addition of Burnitz.

I remember seeing Arroyo pitch with the Pirates when he 1st came up. He gave up 9 runs in the 1st to the Mets. And the immature idiot had the audacity to wear number 69 as a professional athelete. I would have kicked him off the team then.

It was spring training. Its made for pitchers to build up stamina and get ready for the season. It was his first start. Going off your analysis, Papelbon must suck too.

whatever, bronson has up and down games and you should know that better than anyone else, his era will always average out to somewhere around 4.3 and he'll always have about 12 wins. as a 5th starter, i have no problem with that.

Unless they change plans and put Papelbon in the rotation right away, he'll be the 5th guy. Wells or Clement won't be here by opening day.

I'm starting to think that they keep both of them around and wait till the trade deadline to move one (or both). That way they can see where they need the most help and use their leverage to get it.

Philly could really use Clement's ground ball ratio. The question is, what do they have to offer?

Maybe a Graff+ Clement to the Mets for prospects....Milledge!!! Omar would be stupid too do it.

In conclusion, Clement will go to the NL subsidized and we'll probably see prospects back. I dont know if they're dire for a 4th OF, but prospects seems like the road to take.

yeah i agree, plus you can probably get more for clement. I say ship him and Graff of to the Rangers (who need pitching and a 2B) and get a young arm back like Eric Hurley or John Danks (if they'd ever do it). Add another guy to build upon Beckett, Papelbon, and Lester. Throw Hansen in at closer and I am seriously shitting myself at how awesome our pitching can be in 2-3 years.

Speaking of pitching, what's the deal w/ Delcarmen? I have a hard time figuring out what role the Sox want him to have in the future cause all we ever see of him now is long relief performances. I assume that they have higher hopes for him then that role for the rest of his career ..

i'm wet just thinking about it ..

Beckett, Papelbon, Lester as the 1/2/3 .. Delcarmen and Hansen in the 8th and 9th ...

Throw in a big budget to fill the other spots and you have the makings of an incredible staff.

well, it seemed pretty clear to me when the trade for coco was made that bard was gonna be the backup.

the positive thing about taking john flaherty from the yankees is, with flaherty catching RJ last season, dude went 12-2 with a 2ish ERA. with jorge i think he went like 5-6 with around a 4 or 5. in other words, a big fuckin difference in the wrong direction.
