I kind of liked hostel
I can't think of the worst "scary" movie off the top of my head, but I did just watch Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines the other day. That is quite possibly the worst piece of shit movie I have ever seen.

Its laughably bad, but it wasnt meant to be taken seriously. I only put it becasue it was the first one to pop in my head. If i had the chance id probably watch it again.

how can you saw hostel is the worst scary movie......Eli Roth is probably the only director right now who knows hwo to make a good scary movie. Hostel and Cabin Fever are the best scary movies in a long time, take your head out of your ass, thats good filmmaking. Along with M. Night Shymalan, who is more Suspense Horror. But who cares.
The most dissapointing scary movie i have ever seen was most defintaly High Tension, it was good and then it got so bad, so quick at the end. Wow, worst ending i have ever seen.

Creep
maximum overdrive. It's by stephen king, I bet if they did a remake it wouldn't be taht bad but it was sooo stupid. Everyone is dead in the world and there stuck in a cafe and they just start having sex. Such a dumbass movie
The Ring Two was on earlier. That shit is terrible.

thank god I'm not a pseudo-intellectual...then I'd have to force myself to hate a bunch of movies before I even see them thus resulting in me not even giving them an unbiased chance.

I know what you're saying, but at the same time the slow-moving old school gore and simplicity are exactly what Eli Roth was going for. Years before I ever fell physically animalistically in brutal love with Eli Roth, that movie scared the hell out of me just by itself. I always told my friends since it came out that if we ever go on a trip to Europe, we're only staying in crowded, famously public places just because of that fucking movie. It didn't make me jump out of my seat, sure, but it's scary.

You're giving Roth far too much credit, imo. He's a guy that steals everything he does from those around him/who came before him. He'll call them 'homages,' but they are stolen. He's a frat-boy hack that started running with the right crowd (or wrong ... whichever way you want to look at it). Then again, what do I know, eh?
Also, you're quoting posts from 3.5 years ago, haha.

Haha, I didn't even realize this was a bumped thread. I guess I didn't mean to give him as much credit as it sounded like I did, and I agree he's not original as a horror director, but most aren't. I think that people who don't like Hostel just don't get that he's not going for what they were expecting it to be like.

He has an immense passion and love for the genre, which I respect a bunch, but his stuff just doesn't do anything for me. And as a huge, huge horror nerd, I can say there are a TON of original horror films and directors, you just have to know where to look and what to look for. It's all about the foreign market as of now, namely, the French. Those motherfuckers know how to put together a flick.

Really, the French? I wouldn't have guessed. My friends are always renting the foreign horrors, but never anything french. If you wanna talk foreign horror, how do you feel about the Japanese? That's where the really fucked up shit is.
Can you make some good French horror recommendations?

I watched Creepshow 2 on saturday, and it was mostly unwatchable. I had to fast forward through the atrocious animated segments.
