let me first say that i love jj redick, basketball is one of my least favorite sports to watch and i am especially not a huge fan of college basketball, but redick got me watching duke games single handedly
that being said, what is up with jj? as good as he has been, i think he has played himself out of the player of the year race in the last three games, i can understand a game, or a couple of games during the season, but three games in a row down the stretch including one in your last home game against your biggest rival, I now consider morrison the best player in college bball, anybody agree with this?

J.J has been asked to do too much this season. they showed a stat during the game today, he missed 29 free throws the last 3 years and he had miss 26 so far this year
i dont agree. redick is still great, he is still putting up a good amount of points, just taking alot of shots to get there. after playing 3 bad games in a row, and losing 2 of them, hes gonna have a mission now. i firmly believe that he can bounce back from this.
yeah, but the mission should have been to bounce back from being upset by florida state to beat your biggest rival in your last home game, and he didn't do that, he only put up 18 tonight, ten below his average and you have to look at the fact that he is taking 20 shots and missing like 15 of them, he is much better than that, thats 15 more chances carolina is getting to score when duke doesn't
i do not think him being tired is an excuse, i guarantee morrison is just as tired and he does not have shelden williams, i think if redick has any excuse it is that he has a horrible point guard who really does not do anything to help him
people put too much hype into JJ. And when he doesnt perform up to his regular standards, when he doesn't do as well, people ask why?

he has less of a supporting cast then he did last year. Williams hasn't been as dominant as he was last year

I think Duke has a good a chance as anyone to win the national title though ..anyway trying to convince you that there's a favorite is just BS'ing. The field is so balanced this year.

I think at this time in the year, their motion offense hurts them. THey don't have plays to get their scorers the ball .. and they aren't kicking and doing much more. Nelson had a great game tonight, but Dockery did nothing much. Paulus sucked ass .. and McRoberts didn't get enough touches. Williams got in foul trouble, and kinda ticked me off. Just a bad game all around.

The team most definitely has the talent to win the Naaional Championship, i just think they only things stopping them is the lack of a proven PG and the amount of time each player has to play. Duke doesn't have a solid bench.

I feel they're too afraid to use their bench at times .. Pocius hasn't gotten ANY playing time recently .. and until tonight Nelson and Melchioni have been doing nothing. If JJ starts putting up his numbers again (he looks like he doesn't want to shoot sometimes now .. which is something i;ve never seen).. Duke can still be athreat.
I read somewhere that JJ has the flu the past 2 weeks, but hasn't wanted anyone to know because they would have changed how they played them.

right. and I agree w/ Paulus ..I understand the kid has a big upside, but you have 2 All-American senior's who deserve a title. Paulus has made the kind of mistakes that could lose you the game in March ...he's dug graves that Reddick has, to this point, lifted Duke out of. It's crunch time though, and Duke needs to consider some serious risk management. If you cut down on Paulus minutes, you likely cut down on turnovers. Paulus is big on assists ...but when you have a scorer like J.J, those numbers are going to go up.

Bleh, you don't set all these records and not showcase you're a player at the next level. Probably never a superstar, but someone I'll still enjoy watching. Regardless, he's made watching basketball great fun for me over the past 4 years ... and seeing as I hardly watch the NBA (and the blazer SUCK and will prolly leave portland) .. I will cherrish the memories, and keep following college bball.

yeah, because JP Batista is just some stiff with virtually the same numbers as sheldon williams. but batista doesn't matter or anything.
and morrison, isn't going at some of the nation's elite players game in, game out, like Redick. So I think Morrison is less tired than JJ.

JJ's one of the toughest players in the ACC...he takes a beating out there, just like Reggie Miller did when he played in the NBA. He gets owned by defenses when he tries to sneak around those double screens and stuff.

whaaaaat? There's NO excuse to go 1 for your last 16 on Sr. night against your biggest rival. Big players are supposed to step up in big games, and he didn't plain and simple. Sheldon brought his game though.

Anyone see the highlights on sportscenter? All they showed was Duke highlight after Duke highlight after Duke highlight. Out of i think 9 baskets made, one, maybe two, was a Carolina basket. Duke would be up 10 then carolina up 2, then tied 6 minutes later, then duke up 6, then carolina up 8. It was rediculous.
Yeah there is no Duke bias at all . . .
p.s. I need to find something to trail off with other then periods . . .

it was the same way for the Chapel Hill game, but I meant that they never showed UNC winning the game, they just showed Duke scoring, showed JJ's stats, and then told you UNC won.

Anyone see the highlights on sportscenter? All they showed was Duke highlight after Duke highlight after Duke highlight. Out of i think 9 baskets made, one, maybe two, was a Carolina basket. Duke would be up 10 then carolina up 2, then tied 6 minutes later, then duke up 6, then carolina up 8. It was rediculous.
Yeah there is no Duke bias at all . . .
p.s. I need to find something to trail off with other then periods . . .
idk man duke had most of the sweet plays. sadly you dont get extra points for sweet plays.

still though you can't just show the score fluctuating like that and nto give the viewer any idea, it's somewhat irresponsible. I watched the entire game so i knew what happened. I disagree with the sweet plays, becaus ethey were showing a lot of threes, and Carolina had enough to put up (they played the Hansbrough three, he's two for three all season, lol). I also have a beef with how short the piece was, like a minute, in an especially long (two hours) sportscenter.
