Here are the staff recommendations for this Sunday. Be sure to check this regularly as it is updated by the rest of the staff; also, put your recommendations in the comments.
Jason Tate: Rock Kills Kid, Brandtson.
Paul: Here's mine (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=119156), and this week I'm joined by my friend Joe from The Sass (http://www.myspace.com/thesassmusic).
Jared: Fall Out Boy, Like Lions, new Brandtson, Thursday and The Weakend.
Rohan: More Than a Daydream (http://www.myspace.com/morethanadaydream), new New Atlantic (http://www.purevolume.com/newatlantic) demos, Damiera (http://www.purevolume.com/damiera), Rhett Miller (http://www.myspace.com/rhettmiller)
Scott: The new Nada Surf (http://www.myspace.com/nadasurfny) record is damn near flawless. Perfectly constructed indie-pop songs. I also recommend Rhett Miller, and you're welcome, Rohan. The new record from Ryan's Hope (http://www.ryanshopemusic.com/) is absolutely blowing me away, I just got it in the mail today and I'm super impressed. It's out in April on Punk News Records (OMG)
Greg: It's a rap week here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=2761478#post276147 8).
Garett: Clair De Lune (http://www.myspace.com/clairdelune) = So Good.
Caleb: I've got some radtacular dudes staying with me all weekend. Check out House of Heroes (http://www.myspace.com/houseofheroes).
Ryan: Liam And Me (http://www.myspace.com/liamandme). I can't stop listening to this.
Drew: Spitalfield (http://www.spitalfield.net), The Lawrence Arms (http://www.thelawrencearms.net), Yeah Yeah Yeahs (http://www.yeahyeahyeahs.com).
Jonatthan Lally: Rock Kills Kid, Hawk Nelson, Jason Suwito, Jack's Mannequin, 30 Seconds To Mars & Aqualung

straylight run (http://www.straylightrun.com/)- i never really forgot about them, but i hadn't listened to them in a while. the cd, ep, and old demos are all still good.
midtown (http://www.midtownrock.com/)- living well is the best revenge. listen to this cd again. you won't regret it.
simon and garfunkel (http://www.simonandgarfunkel.com/)- yeah.
the honorary title (http://www.thehonorarytitle.com/)- this band is ridiculously underrated. i believe they just re-released thier cd, check that out if you haven't yet. jarrod pours his heart out onto every song and you can definitely hear it. they make me so happy and so sad at the same time.
el ten eleven (http://www.elteneleven.com/)- thanks to whoever it was in the general forum that introduced me to them. pretty post-rock stuff.

recs:
Something Corporate - North, I forget how amazing this cd is, the piano really shines compared to leaving through the window.
Anberlin - Blueprints for the Blackmarket, In my honest opinion this is much better than Never Take Friendship Personal and the cover of love song is great.
Explosions In The Sky - The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place, I just recently started to listen to eits and I'm sorry that I didn't earlier. Beautiful is the way to describe this.
Norma Jean - Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child, this album is ridiculously good and makes me wonder how different they would have been if Josh Scogin had stuck around.

I haven't had the opportunity to do recs yet, and I'd like too.
I have a few in mind currently.
If not, it's cool.
I know my reputation here is bad because everyone loves power pop. And I just like it.
Thanks, regardless.

New Brandtson?!

New Brandtson is really good. Lot different than the last album. Like most of the press releases have said, a lot more dancy. "Earthquakes And Sharks" reminds me of a Modest Mouse song.

I'm really glad you guys like Rhett Miller. Usually this site seems more... narrow, I guess... than that. But that's a great album. If you like it, you should check out some stuff by his previous band, The Old 97's. And Rachael Yamagata (The girl he does a duet with on the song "Fireflies") has a new album out of a simliar style that's equally as good.

Psh, I heard of Rhett Miller through Cartel's manager
i am kinda dissappointed in the new Rhett Miller album. There are some good songs on it, but ultimately its not as good as "The Instigator".
wtf is up with him re-recording "Question"? That song is like a classic and while the new one is pretty good I guess, it just didnt need to happen.
The first two songs and the duet with Rachel Yamagata are awesome though, but there are just some boring songs on this album.

talulah gosh - twee as fuck. if you don't like cute 60s girl-group-inspired music, don't listen to them.
built to spill - if you haven't heard anything about these guys, you must be living under a rock. amazing indie rock.
i would set myself on fire for you - i'm usually not a fan of this type of music, but this band is good.
heatmiser - elliott smith's old band. i like his solo stuff better, but this ain't half bad.
the brokerdealer - craig finn's old project. he's ex-lifter puller, current-the hold steady.

Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up I Am Dreaming
Maybe now that Pitchfork is sucking Spencer's dick (um, aside from Wolf Parade) and reporting constantly on Sunset Rubdown, you've ACTUALLY listened to them. I've recommended this band many times before, and I'm recommending them again because I just got a hold of the new album that comes out May 2nd and holy shit is all I can say. "Shut Up I Am Dreaming of Places Where Lovers Have Wings" is fucking incredible. I'm glad people are finally starting to take notice, but I have to admit, a huge part of me wishes Sunset Rubdown could still be like 'my little secret.'
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones
I had forgotten how much I love this band. This record is fantastic and catchy and their live show is fucking incredible (still).

haha, why are montreal shows so good?
i've tried convincing my friends to road trip with me to the frog eyes/sunset rubdown/ show/my birthday in montreal because their chicago show is 21+, and they don't get home from school early enough to road trip to any of the closer shows, making this the closest we could make it to on the tour. buuuut that probably won't happen because they have never listened to either band and don't realize how great this would be.

The venues are great and the fans love their punk rock especially when it's played fast.
I also saw Millencolin and NOFX in Montreal clubs and they were some of the best shows i have ever seen and the crowds were a big part of it.

Bloc Party - Post-Punk-Brit-Rock is how I'd describe Bloc Party. Vocalist Kele Okereke is the key to setting his band apart, with a unique voice and ability to convey a range of emotions with it. If you like Brazil you should enjoy Bloc Party. Go pick up Silent Alarm.
Rock Kills Kid - "Paralyzed" is one catchy track. Sing along, sway your hips and tap your toes.
Scarlet - So I picked up This Was Always Meant To Fall Apart and honestly I wasn't expecting too much, but.... yeah... you know how it goes.. I was pretty mistaken. Breezing through 12 tracks in 37 minutes, Scarlet cut out the fat and left a solid slab of metal to enjoy. If a melting pot of Dillinger Escape Plan & Norma Jean (newer material) excites your taste buds, then drink up.
Pistolita - Oliver Under The Moon is one of the top records of this year so far for me, and it's Pistolita's debut. Ben Folds Five type-piano rock with a tinge of At The Drive-In's energy is an adequate description of the music. Catchy piano rock, don't miss out on what will surely be one of the underrated records of 2006.
Mates of State - I've been listening to alot of Mates of State lately, and deservidly so. This husband and wife duo know how to write some of the most interesting and creative music with only keyboard and drums. I think of them as Death From Above 1979's cute little sister. Make sure to pick up their new record, Bring It Back, March 21st.
Also, go pick up Bayside's Acoustic CD/DVD & Say Anything's ...Is A Real Boy Re-Issue if you hadn't already. Both came out this past Tuesday.

Ha I remember Chris telling everyone to stop moshing... that was hillarious...
I almost kissed a girl mistaken as my girlfriend... but that probably would have been acceptable at a dashboard show.
