I heard this story on CNN last night and I found it amusing.
It deals with criticizing the president and what not.
Anyways to the story.
During WWII there was a reporter who constanty kept criticizing FDR and his policies. So at an imformal meeting with the press FDR presented him with a medal. It was a silver cross, from Nazi Germany!
I found that interesting.
Could you imagine what would happen if Bush gave some commentator an Iraqi miltiary meda?
Every liberal and their mom would be throwing a hissy fit.
After hearing this I wish I was alive when FDR was, he seems like a cool guy.

Ha! That sounds like a good idea. FDR is my favorite democrat, because he made people who need money WORK for their pay, not just get in line. FDR was a good man

Then why is Reagan the most beloved president by both Democrats and Republicans alike? The 70's wasnt a cool time to be a president. Reagan was a moral boosting president, the best.

To me what your saying is that because people have the unfortunate luck of being out of work that they are lazy because they are standing in line for money to support their families. Maybe your one of the lucky ones whose daddy makes all the money in the world or maybe your just naive, but to say he is a great man for making these people do jobs that they may have no experience in is not cool.
sure some of these people could have just been damn lazy, but you cant punish them all for it. It is like saying that the one american who threw the grenade into his fellow soldiers tent is crazy, that the rest of the american soldiers are gonna go crazy over there too.
BUt to the poeple out of work that are skilled in one professian, aka plumber, elexctirican, welder, they cant jsut go out and any job, they're better off trying to find a job in their professian then working shit jobs that are handed out to them
i just shot this off the top of my mind so it probably doesnt really come acrossas it should but i gotta work now

McDonalds and 7-11 are jobs that anyone can obtain. It is more money than welfare PLUS its a lot more honorable than getting a check for nothing. Some people are unfortunant to lose their jobs, but work for your money. I agree with you on the level that plumbers and electricians are only trained in one field. But you can work at McDonalds while looking for a job, I did it. I worked at Burger King for a week and I hated it, so I decided to look for a new job, so I continued working at Burger King full time until I found a job at a sporting good store, a plumber could do the same thing

And FDR didnt make them do jobs they werent skilled in. He had authors write imformation guides for parks (not exactly pulitzer prize material, but hey its a job) and he had artists paint murals, construction workers build dams. He figured (in a time where many were unemployed) that you might as well get some work for the money you hand out. i dont see a thing wrong with it

Plus as a republican he got California's vote. How many democrats can say they got Texas's vote?
