Brightwood (http://www.myspace.com/brightwood) has put up "Sit Still" for download on their MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/brightwood). Also, due to personal goals, the band has parted ways with guitarist Ben Hawkins. A statement from the band is below:
Hello friends,

First of all, we'd like to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts. I can say with confidence that without your support and encouragement, Brightwood would not be where we are today. You have no idea how much each and every one of you contribute to what we do.

For those of you who don't know, we recently released our debut EP "The Love Antidote." As a result of the overwhelming response to the release of the EP (and everything that this entails) we have been faced with the difficult task of assessing our position in this machine called the “music industry” and our intrinsic motivation for making music. Literally, within the past few months, the band has had to face some of the most significant decisions we have ever had to make in our entire two years of existence.

The most notable of these recent decisions is unfortunately the one that saddens us the most. As of February 21st, 2006, our guitarist Ben Hawkins is no longer a member of Brightwood. Due to personal goal conflicts, Ben and the band have decided to part ways. We sincerely believe, with all of our hearts, that this was the best decision for Ben's well-being as well as that of the band. Parting with Ben is not easy, and not just because of his amazing talents as a musician. Those of you who know him can attest to the fact that he is the most kindhearted and genuinely considerate person you will ever meet. We still hold Ben in the highest regard as an amazing friend and musician. His position in Brightwood will not be easily replaced. His position as a friend and amazing human being will never be replaced. Our hope is that you trust us in this decision and to continue supporting us through this hard time.

In regard to the future of Brightwood; we are as strong as ever. We are currently playing successfully as a three-piece band, but are negotiating a suitable replacement, as I write. Although our hearts are heavy at this time, we are more excited than ever about the many opportunities that are being presented to Brightwood daily. We feel truly blessed to have such an amazing group of friends (you guys) and will continue to eagerly pursue this project with your support. At this time, your thoughts and prayers are appreciated more than you could possibly ever imagine.

We also understand that not everybody is going be able to fathom the notion of Brightwood without Ben. To be honest, it is still very hard for us to completely grasp the reality of it all. We want you to know that we are more than willing to get together and speak with any of you who need to know more; whether it be on myspace, email, AIM, sitting down for coffee…whatever needs to be done to ensure that there are no misunderstandings about this decision.

We love you all,

Stephen and Brightwood
