My friend and I disagree on whether or not Bush is a good president. I'd say no. My friend says, "he's doing his best." But she can never give me any solid proof on anything he's done.
Can any of you guys give me instances of Bush helping this country an anyway. How has our country improved since he became President? I'd really like to know, because I can't make any true judgments without knowing both sides. Thank you.

When Prez Bush rarely visits foreign countries and than announces that the US can approach the war alone, it only perpetuates the stereotype that America is an arrogant country, and further isolates us from the rest of the world. Bush talks about world peace, but how can that be acheived when the leader of the most powerful country in the world rarely ventures away from his hill to build good relations with other countries?
The ball is in Bush's court and he's just standing there. Thats what I call bad presidency.
Also my friend and I are arguing about whether or not Bush is a good president, its an argument of opinions, therefore all proofs supporting each side would be opinions. It's all revelent to what one considers a good president to be.

it isn't the presidents job to travel to other countries. if fact i believe TR was the first presdent to leave the country while in office.

In this day and age, it is way safer to travel out of the country then it was before Teddy was president. Besides, if Bush wants world peace, it makes sense that he should go visit other countries to show respect for their land, culture, leader, and people. Instead, Bush alienates people by not doing so. Foreigners don't see you and me, and the neighbor's brother - they see George W. Bush. He is their representation of America, and he's a poor one.
America is isolated by two bodies of water on its western and eastern side. I go less than 100 miles east and I'm no longer in MN, I'm in wisconsen. Different state, basically same culture. Some people can go 100 miles east in Europe and they are in an entire different country with an entirely different culture. Europeans understand and respect other cultures way more than Americans do. Americans think they are the only people in the world, and that American culture is the only culture. Europeans are aware of this and are bitter about it( I don't blame them).

I guess my sprawling, most likely incoherent reply is trying to point out that as our President, Bush should be working to improve foreign relations by traveling more. How hard is it to get on a plane? He's got a great one!
Instead, he refuses, and as our nation's representitive, further implies that we are an arrogant, ignorant country. I know I probably left out a bunch of things I wanted to say, which you will be able to call me on. But whatever. I don't want to make this long. World peace cannot exist without mutual respect and understanding between all countries, especially ours.

Do you have any idea how much money the US spends on Foreign Aid? that alone should be enough to keep up our relations. i don't disagree that bush could visit more countries, but i wouldn't say that it makes him a bad president, many, many leaders visit the presidient in the US.

I think he doesn't travel much for safety reasons. All that traveling would require a tentative schedule. Terrorists could be just waiting for him at his next stop (many of you here would be glad to see Bush dead). If he was to travel from country to country safely, he would be outside of the country. Then people would bitch about him not taking care of America's problems. No matter what he does, he can't please everyone. We have diplomats and ambassadors who represent our country, not just Bush.

If Saddam and Bin Laden can manage to sneak around without being caught, our President, who has access to a lot of money, could certainly do it a million times more efficiently. Though, I agree, safety reasons would be a debilitating force.

yeah, but do we know where he is now. Or if he's even alive? And we haven't found Bin Laden yet. This isn't to say that eventually we won't find either of these guys, but I think Bush could get around pretty easily. It really is no excuse for not traveling. He's got a billion bodygaurds, and intelligence that could probably pick up any talking about someone trying to hurt him.
Is there anything else Bush has done that has been beneficial?

Theres some faulty reasoning in that, i think...... If Bush DOESNT sneak around he wont get the shit kicked out of him. Plus he doesnt really need to, its not like hes really trying his hardest to build foreign relations anyway.
