all these people saying
"maybe hollywood doesn't want gay cowboys"
"or the academy decided to hide its agenda"
"well, they decided to play it safe"
or all the analysis about "why brokeback lost"
all this hoopla and !!!!NOBODY!!!! has put forth the thought that Crash was perhaps just a better movie--which it was by the way. this was no upset. just a big surprise that they decided to award the movie this year, not the hype. i was thrilled.

this was my stance all along:
crash was a great great movie.
crash was better than brokeback.
crash deserved to win.
crash won.
I too, was happy.

i even thought that Crash was a better directed picture too. i think Ang Lee's statue was more of a tribute to his versatility and seamlessness, but i didn't think Brokeback Mountain was his best picture.

seriously however, I think it will take a lot from him to top Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

i thought Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Sense And Sensibility were better in terms of direction and cinema. he did a great job with Ride With Devil too.
