i personally dont like em but i dont really care, and for the most part im happy for them for their sucess cuz despite their lack of talent, theyre drive deffinitly seemed to excell most out there, cuz they toured their asses off, but every thread about them turns into a circus, and for the most part its hilarious

I don't hate FOb, but they completely slaughtered those songs. That's an understatement. And I like FOB.

Agreeded. I don't like FOB but they have a few semi catchy songs but they played horrible on SNL.

I've seen them live several times and I'm still curious as to how Andy doesn't flinch when basses are flying his way

i said in the forums the other night about how bad these songs sounded and people disagreed. i'm personally a fan of FOB but if this was the first thing i had ever heard/saw of them then i there would be no way i would be interested in checking them out.

it seems to me like joe was trying a little too much to appear energetic and crazy, which led to him completely butchering the songs. he was all over the place and messy like a mofo. and it didn't help he was too loud in the mix to begin with. :( patrick and andy sounded good, tho. i was really hoping joe/pete were going to calm down just a little bit for two songs long enough to actually play their instruments adequately and show tv land how good of a band they really are (or, more specifically, how good patrick's songwriting is), but oh well. i still like them just the same. i've seen them play shows and sound good. maybe it was just their nerves that night.

they play that bad at every show, the difference is people are singing along and dont notice.

i've seen them live before and they don't sound that bad. there was some sound problems i think, i'll give them that, but at the beginning of sugar... you can't even tell what song they are trying to play, i only guessed from the drums.

i could be wrong but, Pete writes most of the lyrics.

i know he does, but by "songwriting" i was referring to the music and the construction of the songs. guess i should have been more specific. i don't really think the lyrics are that great in the first place, but the application of them to the songs are good. the lyrics themselves i find uninspired and cliche most of the time. but looking past that, the arrangement of the songs, the music, and patrick's voice have always been what i like about FOB.

when i saw them open for less than jake in '03, i thought their performance was really solid. they for the most part played in tune, and although they were all energetic and jumping around (their trademark), they still managed to pull off the songs well. i haven't seen them play any of the new album live, but man.. that SNL performance was like seeing some shitty local band play in a basement, just nervous, off, sloppy. i only watched SNL that night (cause its god awful most of the time) to see if all the negative comments about their live show that i had been hearing about were true. i'm a fan of fob, but i'd like to erase my memory of the snl performance, and just keep my memories of the 03 show alive.

RockVocalPower

They're not nervous. They're just too concerned with spin kicks and twirling to play their instruments well.

im surprised.. has patrick been taking lessons... his voice sounds alot better then i normally hear live.. but the mixing and the music just sounds way off... sounds like shit... but his voice sounds decent from what ive heard and seen live myself.. this is all off the dance dance video i havent watched the other one yet

I agree with the guy that said Patrick is a great songwriter. And for those of you that don't know a song writer writes the SONG. The lyricist writes the lyrics. Pete Wentz is a schlep, but Patrick is great. He makes really catchy music.

Patrick did sound much better than he usually does. And to the other guy that saw them LTJ, I agree with you too. They were great on that tour, and then the next time I saw them it was like a different band. I've seen them 3 times, and that was the only good performance. I like spin kicks and shit, but they have to lighten up on them.

All in all, I like Fall Out Boy. Like most people I liked TTTYG better than FUCT but I think that's because I got the advance and wore a lot of songs out. Maybe not.

see i'm an fob fan. but uhh these songs do sound terrible. :(

That was the worst performance since Ashlee Simpson. And at least then we got a funny jig at the end.

Spin kicks arn't as funny as jigs.

though i'm not a FOB fan, i will admit that patrick can put together some damn catchy songs. It really is pathetic though that they cant do them live. When the guitars and bass came in on the songs, it really just sounded like raw noise. I'm actually really impressed that andy can keep his beat over all that.

They were amazing at Warped Tour, they and Relient K were the best, no doubt.

The lead singer reminds me of the lead singer from the Blues travelers and if the rest of the band sounded as good as the lead singer then they would have sounded good. Thats just what im thinking.

ehh big deal. besides, the drummer from mwY is more stiff-armed.

I love how theres another video on that website from FOB playing "live" on some UK show. its really very obvious that there is a backing track playing behind them and that his voice was auto-tuned. Theyve never sounded that good in their lives.

I never said his lead vocal was autotuned. He's still pitchy in spots but it's the best I've heard him sing that song. I'm sure the TV show did some doctoring though. The best part for me was hearing all the background vocals and background guitars that they played over the song.
