Hey everyone,

This Is A Stickup! (http://myspace.com/tiasil) is a new hardcore band fresh out of Joliet (Chicago), IL! Check them out and let them know what you think. They are working on some new stuff before their next show, August 14 with We Came as Romans at the Korova in Morris, IL! Their CD will be released in early September.

not a big fan of the singing. decent song, overall. the breakdowns remind me of old underoath. I don't really understand the synth thing everybody has for hardcore bands. they never do anything special on the records and live you normally can't even hear them. give him something specific and unique to do, give him a part before a breakdown, or something. otherwise it's just a shitty distraction

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, about the synth, one of our newer songs we wrote (the last song on this album we're putting out) has synth exactly how you are saying. I'll be sure to let you know when we release that so you can take a listen and see if you like how we arranged the synth into that song!

I don't like them. And I wonder how they got their name. Maybe from Hit The Lights and their first album?

No, I don't think we come off as the kind of band who listens to Hit the Lights? Hardcore is also just our general classification. Maybe metalcore or screamo would be a better genre classification?

Metalcore or screamo would be a much better fit than hardcore. If I see hardcore and it doesn't sound somewhat like a band I could find on Bridge 9, it's a problem.

Hmm, i wouldn't agree. They do not sound like hardcore/metalcore/ and def. not screamo. They have their own blend of anything going on, hardcore is way to broad of a specification now-a-days, hence why it's used sooo much.<3
Also, Hit The Lights and This Is A Stickup! sound nothing alike, so how can you even accuse them of stealing their CD TITLE for their band name.. the first thing i thought of was CATHERINE'S "Reach For The Sky" (haven't heard it?..go listen)
