Absolutely love this band. I saw Ben Crist and the paino player last week and it was absolutely beautiful. They played two sets at lifest, one filled with old songs, and the second pretty much the whole new album accoustic.

Heavy Hearted may be my new favorite song by them.

Any love?

Haha, there is love coming from me. It's remarkable at how many bands I like that you like too.
I look forward to hearing their new record. I particularly want to hear their version of 'How He Loves'. I love the original by John Mark McMillan.

Anyway. I like them.

Has The Hope That Lies In You leaked or something!? I was totally unaware of a new album until right now, I'm fairly stoked.

Close To Your Heart is my favorite "worship" song ever by far. Mad love.

I love the Glorious Unseen... but I've seen them get too much hype, which gets annoying. People in the scene tend to think that they're worship music's salvation (pun intended) or something. Great band, though.

I think they are though. They are one of the few bands in the worship genre I can appreciate and even connect with because they're not trying to play hype-megachurch music, they create simple sincere songs that I feel are extremely genuine.

the reason they are good is because their lyrics are honest and not cheesy. i love the how he loves cover. amazing.

How He Loves us is such a beautiful song, the TGU version that is.

Comes out next month! He actually offered to put it on the iPod of a friend of mine because they were wearing the same shirt. It was pretty funny actually. Dude didn't have his iPod on him though :-(

The EP He Loves Us is sooo good though.

hah. I was just wondering because they were at Icthus and from what I remember were rather preachy. i was just wondering if this was the same band.

it probably is. i dunno i've never actually seen a "preachy" band. in my mind i consider "preachy" more of people saying repent repent! if a band is up there just talking about their beliefs a whole lot, i'm fine w/ that. it's their option and i don't feel like they're forcing anything on me.

I thought it was strange, but when I saw just Ben play with his piano player it was just 30 minutes of straight music. No "preaching" happened.

Yeah, I follow, but there's certain bands that I find to be a bit pushy. I can't really categorize these guys in there, but Underoath, for example, annoy me about it. I'm not even really aethiest/agnostic, but conservative christianity (and it's associated practices) slightly annoy me.

Conservative Christianity does bother me too, but this band isn't really trying to convert. They are a worship band, and they're trying to help people enter into the presence of God, so you can't blame them for coming off as overtly Christian when that's what they're trying to do, I don't necessarily listen to this for the quality of the music although I do enjoy it.

Gotcha, but I was just trying to say, I kinda know how you feel. If I watched these guys and it wasn't for a worship-type experience, I would most likely not enjoy it.

New album sounds pretty good so far, though from what I've heard, there doesn't seem to be many excellent standout tracks like on their debut.

Yeah I agree with that. It's another great album, but not as good as the previous. I still really enjoy it though. Heavy Hearted and He Loves Us are the stand out tracks for me so far.

Just discovered this band. It's a little too religious to listen to daily, but I like it. Reminds me of Mat Kearney.

They only have two albums, so that's not really much of an issue. I'd start out with their first one, but I haven't heard their second one yet, so do as you wish.

Not yet. How does it compare to Tonight the Stars Speak? Unless it's significantly better, as much as I enjoy their debut, I'm not in a hurry to get the new one. There are too many other releases I'm looking forward to (like David Crowder and Volcano Choir on Tuesday and some releases I still need to go back and check out). Your recommendation does make me want it a little more, though.

I'm not sure I can say its better, but its definitely up there with it. I'm going to have to listen to them back to back to give you a good comparison, but its good.

Maybe I'll get it towards the end of fall or something; if it's anything like their debut, it should be a good album to drive with in the winter.
