Die! "Black" is one of my all-time favorite songs. And you say you're from Seattle? Pfft.

Yeah, exactly...if you lived here, you'd see how they won't let grunge die. Every time I turn on the radio, I'm guaranteed to hear Nirvana within 30 minutes, it's awful.

I was born too late for Pearl Jam. I'll give the album a once over.

Evertime I see that live Pearl Jam video on TV where he goes "Turn those lights out, this is a fucking rock concert!" I always laugh. I dislike Pearl Jam, I've always been an advocate for toejam though, and I guess Earls cool too.

Pearl Jam is probably the most legit band out there who has kept it reel ther entire career. And if you only think they are grunge, listen to them, they write the most melodic beautiful songs and some of the hardest songs more punk than most people would think. Just give them a chance. rent live at MSG...it will change your perspective. They are worth giving a try. Thanks

I have to admit, when I hear Pearl Jam I think of plaid shirts, long hair, and Nirvana-era music. I haven't given them any chance, nevermind a fair one. Good post.

Hahaha, but they have never accomplished an album that was good as Ten. You kinda have to expect that all you're going to get from Pearl Jam is what you're hearing.

Nirvana was a great band dude. Pearl Jam, not so much.
Nirvana was a band with very little musical talent that created a revolution and a change in music forever. highly influential, but not a very good band. Even Cobain has said that he sucks at guitar. It's more so that I find Nirvana/grunge so incredibly overrated than I hate it, per say. While there are bands of the time that I despise (Alice in Chains), the media in Seattle still worships Cobain like he's some sort of musical deity, when in reality, he was just a poor guy who wrote simple songs and stumbled into fame.

Of course Ten is their best album, but Yield is close to it in my opinion.

PS: I hate(d) Alice In Chains.

I love this band some of their songs were a little hit or miss but the good ones were great. They put on an amazing live show too. I saw them on July Ist (Canada Day here) in Toronto and that show is still one of the greatest shows i've seen up to now. When they came out to do an encore they played one song and then all of a sudden the clock struck midnight and looking off to the left of the stage you could see tonnes of fireworks going off.

Needless to say Eddie finished on that note.

I don't listen to them very much anymore but they'll always have a place in my cdHEART!!

holder.

I don't like Pearl Jam too much. They were kinda like the precursor to all those bland adult alternative bands like Creed, Nickelback and 3 Doors Down.

Then Pop Punk Boy, guess that means Blink 192 paved the way for Good Charolette...guess that means you can't like Blink 182 anymore.

Pearl Jam is doesn't need a bunch of emo punk kids to listen to them. They have a large faithful audience. They don't write their records for you. They write them for themselves.

Pearl Jam is amazing. They put on one of the best shows i have ever seen. They play different set lists everynight. I saw them in Boston a couple years ago, they had 3 shows and only repeated one song. I saw them the third and in order to play all of there songs they played an hour acoustic set before the opening band and then played another 2.5 hours after. Over the 3 nights they played 87 different songs. The only one repeated was Yellow Ledbetter which they played as their 3rd encore the final night.

I can't agree with that. I enjoy Vs and Vitalogy much more than Ten. The production on Ten is just too polished, but yeah, it's their classic album.

Well there really hasn't been a mainstream rock movement as good since then. Unless you think nu-metal or 3rd gen pop punk rivals the grunge scene.

one of the greatest live shows. ever. and if you say hold pearl jam on the same writing and playing level as nirvana as not-so-great musicians, then you've obviously never seen them live. can't wait. sounds a little commercial to me, but hey it's pj so i can't complain.
