two different things I could think of, this one seems more likely:
that the "some father's son/ is it his or is it mine" may express concern for the families of the soldiers who will die.
or
he could be refering to George W., and the "is it is/ or is it mine" could be like, is he fighting for his own freedom, or the freedom of the people.

Good, I wasn't the only one. I think Bono does most of that stuff to make himself sleep better at night. And what about that song, "The Hands That Built America"? Bono and U2 aren't even American...that would be like an American singing about British history. Personally, I don't care for Bono or U2.
Note to Bono: WHEN INSIDE, YOU SHOULD REMOVE YOUR SUNGLASSES! It's not cool.

U2 is from Ireland, and the song was for the movie gangs of new york, which is about irish immigrants.

good decision on your part. Day-lewis was awesome, but the movie as a whole sucked ass. it was way too long.
