I have listened to a lot of good albums from up and coming artists, as well as some heavy hitters and I gues this is a good way to see what people think of albums this year. For me, I really like the new Green Day CD because I didn't them to have a sound like they did on the record, but I also really like the new Silversun Pickups and Phoenix, as well as Rancid's and New Found Glory's new records, so it was definitely a hard choice for me. But I am looking forward to the new Pearl Jam, Muse, Cartel, FOTC, Vampire Weekend and Love by Angels and Airwaves.

Well, they are the best thing to come from France since the Statue of Liberty.

It could very well be. It was definitely a surprise find when I heard the album the first time. I wonder what album the person liked best when they chose "other?"

I'd say for me it's Bitte Orca, but this is definitely up there.

I loved Swoon, but it didn't quite top Carnavas for me (Twinkles is my favourite Pickups song). I also can't wait for Muse's new record, hopefully it'll live up to my expectations :-)

ATL is bubblegum pop not alt rock. I went with Green Day.

Of this list, I'd say Swoon.

Dredg should be on this list though. They have album of the year to this point (it'll probably be topped by Muse, Brand New, and Thrice though).

the fact that the Decemberists have less than 10% of the vote here is rather appalling.

i chose not without a fight because not only do i honestly think it's the best of the year so far, but it also shows that new found glory is a band that is going to around for a long time. and i think that makes us all pretty fucking happy, at least those of us that like new found glory, which should be all of us.

From the choices, I voted NFG, but my favorite album this year is going to be one of these three: Grizzly Bear, P.O.S., or The Dirty Projectors

I don't know how you can consider All Time Low "Alternative Rock". What is alternative about them, they sound like a LOT of other bands out there...Rock is somewhat of a stretch as well. They are pop...if you want to stretch it maybe pop punk.

this!!! not their best effort, but certainly better than these options. tis what i voted for.

mean everything to nothing is a close second. and as far as just cool summer anthemic driving music goes, 21st century breakdown is pretty good.

It is called alternative-rock and that covers bunch of genres. I can see the Decemberists is not much of it, neither is All Time Low, but that's why I put an other column you know. What would you call it though?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting the poll down, and I probably couldn't come up with a better name for it, but along with the two you said, I don't see U2 or New Found Glory as alt-rock either. Just me though.

Great poll, i would say its really close between NFG and Silversun Pickups, but i chose SS. Also, im glad that Blue October is in this, Approaching Normal is def the 3rd best in the list.

I think U2 is definitely alt-rock, but you are definitely right about NFG, but what's done is done. All I wanted to do is to see which album people think is better out of the choices you know.

i mean, it wasn't terrible. it was kind of just a bland, C+ kind of album to me. i expected so much more out of the lyrics. it's worth listening to, but i just don't think it can compare with the likes of the hazards of love and mean everything to nothing.

yeah, i'll give you that about the lyrics....that was kinda surprising that they weren't anything special. Musically i thought it was great though. Also, I really liked four or five songs off of Mean Everything to Nothing, but overall i felt it was somewhat overated. just my opinion though.
