It seems there isn't a thread for all news and talk about boxing to be placed in so I decided to start this.

I'll start by saying that it seems that the Cotto-Pacquiao will indeed be held November 14th at 145lbs.

Since this thread is in its childhood, it's prime to state that, if things stay as they are, boxing is dying a slow painful death. It's likely that if boxing ever tries to regain lost exposure, there won't be anything left to regain because of the rise of MMA and kickboxing.

Yeah I think Pac would win this fight. He needs to stop with this catchweight bullshit though. Cotto is in talks about being trained by Emmanuel Steward or Buddy Mcgirt.

Speaking of Freddie Roach's prize fighters, Amir Khan defeated Andreas Kotelnik in what was apparently a clinic according to the judges scorecard to win his first major championship. I still don't believe the hype on this guy and seeing him fight makes me miss Naseem Hamed even more.

Cotto is supposed to be making 15 million fighting Pac.

Why is is that, when discussing combat sports such as boxing and MMA, people seem to think you can simply say "nuthugger" and expect to be taken seriously when the word itself is a stupid fanboy fad?

And if you don't think that boxing is on the cusp of dying worldwide, you need to take a broader view of the sport. As an art, it will never go under but, as a mainstream attraction, the sport is losing its luster. It just happens to be happening more rapidly in the US since the US is the birthplace (financially) of the sport that seems to be on its way to replacing boxing as the premier contact sport.

And you can either blame this on America's frat boy blood lust or on the fact that the balance of power in US mainstream boxing is way off the mark.

Haha I had the same opinions. Ishe trying to start a fight Jacobs with Stitch Duran holding him backwas pretty funny. I felt that Guererro made some fans with that fight but he still needs to work on his inside defense as he was getting his head moved too many times. Yeah, Marquez gave Diaz such a fucking war. Love that fight. Also thought Paulie's interviews were so great haha

i've always thought that the ref jumped in to soon at the end of corrales vs. castillo 1 and think that morales vs. pacquiao II could be considered a top fight of the decade but i can't disagree to much with those picks.

Also the thing with Pacquiao not being on this list is that in two of the three best fights hes ever been a part of he didn't win. Yeah you have a point in that. I'm tired of megafights not living up to the hype so I hope we get a good scrap Leonard/Hearns type I hope. Basically whoever wins this fight will be considered the best fighter of their time. That by itself should push both guys to work harder than they've ever had.

i'm thinking the fight won't be much more then a series of counter punches to pac man's head...pacquiao is fast but mayweather is just as fast, a defensive genius, and the naturally bigger man.
i don't know if i'll consider mayweather the best fighter of his time when he wins because pacquiao has had to move up so much in weight for the fight to happen and pacquiao has taken on a much better class of opponents these last 5 or so years.

Berto wouldn't budge from his demands. He wanted 50-50, which is ridiculous because Berto-Quintana only sold 900 tickets. Mosley is really no ticket seller himself, but he's a proven champion and is coming off the biggest fight of the year. Granted Mayweather was the selling point in that fight, Mosley is still one of the best fighters in the world, even when he's past his prime.

Showtime's latest Fight Camp ask's more questions of Dirrell's injury than it sets out to answer. The excellent program covers the twists and turns behind each participants preparations before the next round of fights begin.

In revealing footage shot by the Fight Camp producers before Dirrell withdrew, shows some alarming comments being made by one of Dirrell's camp - his cousin Leon Lawson junior who the son of Andre's trainer.

"It's not a guarantee that we face Ward next." claimed Leon Lawson jr, almost uncannily during the opening minutes of the latest fight camp 360 episode.

"This is a business." he states candidly.

"we're 'Prize' fighters... not 'Pride' fighters.

"If they wanna dance then get that MONEY right." concluded Lawson.

The comments come out of the blue as all the participating fighters in the Showtime Super Six are contracted with agreed purses up front for their involvement. From a neutral perspective it would appear that they were under the belief that their fighter was now worth more than they originally signed up for.

Later in the show, the team visit Andre Dirrell's home to get his side of events, but when asked which doctor allegedly advised he withdraw from the event, Andre was seemingly lost for words and his family stuttered before dropping names.

Then immeadiately after the question was posed, Lawson senior declared that he wanted "Lawyers present" if they continued to ask such questions of his fighter.

The Showtime team then stated that this was an opportunity for Andre to tell the story of his withdrawal to answer suspicious critics who feel that his injury is not legit.

It a bold move, the team then asked Team Dirrell if "He was scared".

This provoked Lawson junior to again intervene and declare that whilst Andre isn't fighting, him and his team are not making money.

"I love making money." he boldy declared before quickly adding that he'd happily push forward the boxer to fight in the quest for dollar bills, but that Andre was 'family'.

Elsewhere footage of a forlorn Ken Hershman, the creator of the tournament looks dissapointed that the show has been rocked with withdrawals but valiantly declares the show will continue until it's conclusion.

Andre Ward is featured in the segment and genuinely seemed happy to lace up and fight Dirrell, adding that his withdrawal was surprising.

Maurquez showed some heart last night. Lopez looked good, but I think this fight almost hurt his "reputation" a little bit..he was supposed to just walk through his opponent last night, and while he was winning most of the fight...he didnt dominate like was thought.
