I went with Gangs of New York because I like the movie better, but it's really a toss up for me. He is phenomenal in both of them.

Daniel Day Lewis is the best of the best in my opinion. I may not be the biggest fan of every movie he's done but he's always what makes a movie worth watching. He get so into character you really are convinced that he becomes them. I'd have to go with Daniel Plainview, just because there were so many moments in that movie that I was jaw-dropped with his performance. But you are comparing the best actor's performances against another so it's a tough call.

Did you see he is going to be in a musical this winer (Nine)? Not only can this guy act brilliantly but he can fucking sing?

Daniel Plainview easily, plus There Will Be Blood is twice the movie Gangs of New York is.

i typically agree with you in these forums. but i have to differ here, i think the movies are pretty even. i think gangs of new york was exceptionally written, and that the cast nails it. even dicaprio, who i typically hate in most roles, does a great job. and then in there will be blood has a lot of underlying messages, again outstanding acting from day-lewis and dano, plus radiohead's jonny greenwood outdoes himself on the film score.

i really couldn't vote in my own poll, these both might be my favorite movies.

it does it on it's own, just wait a day or two and it should make you a prestigious member
i just became one about a week ago and was wondering the same thing when i finally got 1,000 posts

I am really into history so i get annoyed with portions of Gangs of New York because he plays with a lot of the facts about how things really were back then. Also, there are much much better Scorsese films out there while There Will Be Blood is my favorite PTA film.

Ahhh I still haven't seen Gangs of New York, I've heard it is great though. Now going on my Netflix queue.

I thought There Will Be Blood was pretty good, the score was weird though. Like, distractingly weird.

It's good. He's amazing in it. If you haven't seen In the Name of the Father you should. Might be my favorite DDL movie behing There Will Be Blood.

They have been show the trailers for this movie throughout the X-Games, and it looks awesome. It will be interesting to see how Daniel Day Lewis fits in with Tim Burton's animation.

there will be blood is my favorite movie ive seen so far. with that being said, gangs of new york was pretty fucking awesome. but daniel day-lewis can kick ass in any role.
but there will be blood is a better movie overall in my opinion so i went with that.

Bill in GONY was one of my favorite characters ever in any film and this movie is one of my all-time favorites. so i voted Bill the Butcher.

BUT ddl's acting in There Will Be Blood was so powerful and moving. i can tell you that even though i dont fully understand the movie
