The Early November (http://www.theearlynovember.net) said they just got word that their album isn't coming out "for a very long time" and that they are all very sad; if it must come to it, they'll leak it themselves.

Hell, I don't care. It needs to come out. I wish AP could leak this (with free downloads) or something, but I'm sure there are legal issues and whatnot.

If it comes to it, I'll mail the band however much it was gonna be sold for. I wanna hear it bad.

I must know what you know...

I'm really pissed about this, I've been looking forward to new music from them since The Room's Too Cold was released, I'm a huge fan. I hope everything ends up working out well for TEN and Drive-Thru, but I'll admit, I'm hoping they leak it, because this is just ridiculous.

i don't understand why you just wouldn't say what you heard. i know for one as a fan who has spent a lot of money on DTR i would like to know what the fuck is going on. i don't think you saying something that hasn't been confirmed is going to stir up any problems.

and please don't think i'm being a jerk to you, this is not the case.

I understand release date push backs and I understand that this is a business first for these (expletive held back) labels. But I'm sick of The Early November push back. I know it's not the band fault and I know that they feel bad about this, I mean it hurts everyone's pockets, but I'm just being selfish and frustrated. Fucking shitty news.

Drive Thru should just already come out and tell everyone they're bankrupt. the whole distro thing is such a sour excuse. they couldn't afford the distro, therefore they lost it.

Richard is a great guy don't get me wrong, i just wish he would've made some better choices in signing bands.

Hopefully TEN will get bought out by a label who can give them the type of support they need.

Good enough I guess. I've heard things about bands trying to leave the label, things like that. I just hope that Drive-Thru, if they really are in as bad a financial state as is rumored, would do the right thing and let some of these bands out of their deals.

I know if I ran a label and couldn't afford to be putting out records that bands poured their hearts into, and couldn't provide any support for the band, I'd be letting them walk.

Worst case scenario, they open up some negotiations with other labels and see if any of them are willing to buyout some contracts. That way, the bands get to put out their records, the label can raise a little capital, and another label will be better off business wise.

I'm not sure if any of that would be legal, but I would assume so, if a certain band found a better situation with a different label, and all the parties could some to some sort of a mutual agreement, I don't see why one label couldn't buyout a band's deal with a different label, if the band approved of the deal, of course.

When I last talked to Serj when they came to Oklahoma on Nov. 13, this shit was being released in feb, then march, and now supposedly never. I dunno if I buy that or not though, cause they just released that digital ep that's supposed to "hold us over just for a little while longer". But I swear to God, if DTR keeps this shit up when it comes time to release Hidden In Plain View... oh goodness... to do that to TEN AND HIPV... that'd be the day I finally say "Fuck you Drive Thru, I'm out..." Until then, I still give them the benefit of the doubt... maybe. JUST RELEASE THIS FUCKING ALBUM ALREADY!

So I decided all the good bands left on DTR, (HIPV, TEN, IATA) need to go to Vagrant like SF and DC did yeaaaars ago. haha.even though I kinda agree, that was totally different. DC never was signed to DTR, they only bought the rights for his first album from Fiddler Records. SF was sold to Vagrant by Geffen who stole them from DTR.

Drive Thru has no Distro... I thought this was made clear to everyone? Without Distro you can't buy DTR's CD's... They aren't going to release anything until they get Distro. So, don't expect ANY CD's from them until they have what they need.come on... they released so many CDs without distro just on their homepage after they left Geffen and rereleased them with Sanctuary (Hellogoodbye EP, Early November Acoustic EP, Home Grown EP).

If you told me the shambles of record label DTR would become these days 5 years ago I would have laughed my ass off. So many up and coming artists with great potential that they gradually let slip through their fingers one by one faster than they could replace them with a new one. I think they invested too much time and money pimping New Found Glory really well and kind of kicked the other ones to the curb. SoCo, Starting Line, and Fenix TX should have been household names around or shortly after NFG did so. Those 3 bands especially were "gimme's" to break through, yet somehow they never did reach the audience they should have.

Makes me wonder if Fueled By Ramen is taking notes on what formula not to use to operate a seemingly overnight jumpstart of a label that looks like its gonna steamroll its peers into a fine powder of broken jewel cases.

yanks2np
03/09/06, 04:13 AM
This is really sad. I know there are tons of distros that would just love to have Drive-Thru records aboard. I wonder if they have tried RevHq/RevDistribution. They are Equal Visions, Ferret, and a couple other of notable label's distro and they have seemed to do a great job (I am one of their retail clients). So Drive-Thru, look at this post and try to go with them.

And I thought it was weird that there really wasn't a set release date, so you could pretty much see this coming.

03/09/06, 04:50 AM
Drive Thru is the biggest piece of shit label out there. If any new band signs with them they get what they deserve. I mean how could you honestly want to sign with a label that will put your record out sometime in the next year and half that you recorded it?

Long story short from what I have read in interviews Drive Thru had to get out of a shitty deal with geffen but had to leave behind it's biggest bands new found glroy, the starting line (which soon after left), Finch (which just broke up), and something corporate (who is doing fine with side projects). Now they have to go out of their distruting deal because stores keep complaing that they don't have enough cds. The Early Novemeber will sell a shit load of cds if they wait in my opinion its just a matter of can they wait.

P.S. Senes fail couldn't release their cd because geffen had control over releases and Richard has said in interviews that Geffen didn't hear a hit song. Senses fail knew dtr was getting out of the Geffen deal and they couldn't wait long enough so now they are with a label that used to be bad ass i.e. the get up kids and all their side prjoects.

I am just as pissed as the next person. Everything getting pushed back sucks. But distribution is really the key to a release. The CDs have to be in stores and in large quantities. TEN is going to sell like crazy, but they won't sell at all if there is only 2 or 3 CDs in each store on the Tuesday it hits the shelves.
I don't really buy the whole bankruptcy thing, there is no way they could sign new bands if this where the case.
And about the Senses Fail thing that was a Geffen issue and to whoever said that DTR spend too much time and money on NFG, they really didn't since RCA scooped them up almost immediately.

i havent bought a dtr realease in about 3 years. i am over this label and their issues. smaller labels w/ smaller bands have better distro and less issues than theirs. record - release. not - record - wait 12 months while label resolves yet another issue - release.

They can't give up TEN, for one, Rich and Steph love them to death, and secondly unlike the other bands they actually pretty much poured alot more money in their recording then anyone else. If they release any bands its time to release the shitty ones like Adelphi, or Jenoah who aren't doing shit all. I'm not impressed with this, insted of promoting new bands(which is good) Why don't they sign a new deal with someone or fucking do something about it. Old school DTR worked part time jobs and whatever to get records out, this is getting rediculous. I heard Richard got so broke he had to sell one of his homes i dunno if its true

Great... its not my most anticipated release of the year or anything...

Its not surprising because of the whole bullshit surrounding DTR. But this saddens me very much. I've been waiting for new TEN for a long time. It must be a bad situation if they're planning on leaking it themselves. And they put so much into this. I really feel for these guys.

After all of this hogwash I cannot believe that a label A&R or someone higher or lower up has not come to the conclusion to just release this TEN album and future releases via digital. Put this sucker on iTunes for 13.99 i mean who on here WOULD'NT buy that?! That's right buy it, because otherwise it will just get leaked my the creators and no profit occurs at face value. Granted the kids who get the leak could buy the offical release, but those kids are few and far between

David Melillo's EP was supposed to be a free digital release, but Drive-Thru, for whatever reason, couldn't pull it together well enough to release it in Feb. like initially planned. So it got pushed back to March, and now I think April.

Yeah, seriously. This is Drive-Thru. I kept laughing at everyone who got all excited for this release...it probably won't hit shelves til 07.
On one hand, it's Drive Thru. But on the other hand, an album has to come out sometime. I've never seen an album get pushed back so much. Didn't they rerelease their last album with "preview tracks" of this album on it with a sticker saying "Coming Spring (or April?) 2006"? I figured the situation hit critical mass a long time ago, after the - oh say - third push back. It's just unbelievable that this won't be coming out for a while now.

I honestly never want to buy another DT release again.

Thanks broham, it just makes the MOST sense you know!? I mean Drive Thru already released a TEP digital release and are set to do some EP's that way, why not just a digital release say first of April even if the album hits retail in August? Drive Thru would probibly double their profit off of this album alone. I cannot believe this hasnt crossed anyone's mind over there. I say we start a petition....

so i dont know anything about how the music industry works, but why is it that drive thru cant release an album thats been finished for a while now? is it because they can only release a certain number of albums each week and TEN is at the bottom of the priority list? or is it that they are low on money and have to wait until all the albums with set release dates get released first, and they pushed back TEN to be released after all those other albums. i just dont get why it would take a record label so long to release something thats already done? is it more of a money issue, or a 'popularity' issue (that they gotta release the albums that are hyped up first)
