i have a presentation due for my seminar class in a little over two weeks on neural stem cells and i'm having a really hard time finding anything out about them. does anyone know of any sites or magazines or journals..or anything that would have a lot of information on them? thanks.

I would recommend the following journals:
Journal of Neurology
Journal of Neuroscience
New England Journal of Medicine

NEJM would be an extremely good bet. It is always up to date on current research. The other two journals are improving due to the growth of the field. Sorry I would give you something a little more concrete but I can't access journals and databases off campus. Hope that helps a bit

for some reason i thought that said "natural stem cells," & i was so confused.
anywhow, i don't know what your scope is, but if you can get on pubmed (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?DB=pubmed), a search for review articles might be helpful to get the big picture.

here are some abstracts for articles that might be helpful to you:

Adult neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=16518023&query_hl=2&itool=pubmed_docsum)

Regenerative medicine with adult stem cells (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=16324529&query_hl=2&itool=pubmed_DocSum)

The cell biology of neurogenesis. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=16314867&query_hl=2&itool=pubmed_DocSum)

Neural stem cells: on where they hide, in which disguise, and how we may lure them out. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=16370334&query_hl=2&itool=pubmed_DocSum)

Hahaha I have been out of uni for 6 months and have already forgotten about PubMed. I should have thought of that. That was my best friend last semester

this is just a stupid project for a one credit course...do you really need actual published articles? The problems with these journal articles is that they're so in depth it would fuck you up even more ya know? Your best is to find a lot of sources with general information on it and then if u want, look into one or two of these articles and discuss the most recent advances in neural stem cell research.

thanks for all the help guys. noodle, some of your sites did help. they gave me some ideas for what to look up and how to better break down the presentation.

I still think too much of the presentation consists of just describing the nervous system and not enough of the actual stem cells. But whatever it really doesn't matter...it'll kill time which is what u want lol
