First of all, with or without Bonds, your team sucks. I hope like hell the Blue Sox, I mean Dodgers, beat your brains in all year and all of you are miserable come October.
That said, regardless if you win the NL West or not, you will get crushed come playoff time.
So you can enjoy cheering for a complete scumbag as he tears down the most hallowed record in all of sports from two deserving ballplayers who did it RIGHT, because your team is still going fucking NOWHERE this season in the grand scheme of things.
In closing, Bonds admitted to "unknowingly" using steroids to a Grand Jury. Your defense of someone who is stupid, oblivious and ignorant enough to put something into their body that they "didn't know what it was" is almost as stupid as defending someone who knowingly injected steroids.
Well at least rooting against the Giants will give you something to root for seeing as Boston sure as hell won't be around come October this year.

The Yankees are going to run away with the AL East, and the Blue Jays and Yankees will both take a few more games off the Red Sox this year causing them to lose the wildcard to the West or the Central.
The Giants are much improved by picking up Matt Morris and with their young pitchers having a year's more experience. Jason Schmidt will start the season healthy. We have a healthy Barry Bonds who will win 10-15 games by himself. We will have Randy Winn for the entire season and have some guys who can come off the bench and hit. We added Kline to our bullpen and will have Benitez healthy for the entire year. The rest of the NL West did very little to improve. We'll see who's talking come October.

When your team does horrible, you like to see them at least win the division.
I'm a Mets fan and a season ticket holder. I used to go to games knowing they would lose, but I went anyway. This year I'm really hoping for the playoffs. Even if they don't win I won't be too upset because at least they made it. Then I can start thinking about the World Series (I don't consider 2000 a real world series appearance for the Mets because they played like shit). They can't be happy because the Giants improved a great deal this off season?

That did cost us 10-15 games. With this year's bullpen, I'd say we win 5-9 of those games. With the improved outfield of a healthy Bonds, Wynn, Alou I'd say that gives us 7-10 more wins. We'll get at least another 1-3 wins just because of our starting pitching. We'll probably lose another 1-2 with the defense we lose from J.T. Snow and the liability of Bonds in the outfield.
Given all this I'd say we're going to win 12-20 more games this year than last year putting us at around 90-95 wins this year. I'd say that's a reasonable prediction.

He probaby won't see a ton of action, although more than most 4th outfielders with the age of Alou and Bonds. Our starting outfield is Bonds in left, Wynn in center, Alou in right. I see Finley starting 40-60 games this year barring any major injuries.

Because wild card teams like the Anaheim Angels or 2002 or the Arizona D-Backs of 2001 or the Florida Marlins of 2003 or the Boston Red Sox of 2004 never win the World Series. As long as you've got some talent, whoever's hot will go all the way in the playoffs.

which is smart. They develop players in the minors, get their prime years in the majors, and trade them for other prospects which they develop in the minor and again use in the majors for a certain period of time. Not every play in MLB can sustain their good numbers for a whole career, only HOF players. You need distinguish between the two and Beane does an excellent job.

why do you suck? you know shit about the giants. They are one of the best teams in the MLB when at full health. They have a solid 4 man rotation (schmidt, morris, cain, noah lowery). good starting lineup, and as good manager.
dude, the Giants would not be winning the division if they weren't playing in the N.L. West.

Who is going oust them? The Dodgers have no pitching too speak of, the Padres are questionable at every position, and the Diamondback aren't there yet (although, they’re my sleeper). The Rockies will never be there.

Nice "solid" 4 man rotation. Calling them solid is like calling my Pirates rotation proven.

yes, let me run in fear of the top 3 in that rotation. Two men in your bellpen is not going to help. Baez and Gagane cannot carry them.

yeah, that's such a solid starting 4. two aging vets with their best years behind them, an unproven prospect, and one kid who'll be pretty good. with a bullpen that's so stellar containing armando benitez who doesn't string together two consecutive healthy, productive seasons, and steve kline, who just had his worst season since he was a rookie nearly a decade ago. not to mention your best player is a health question and still has to play the outfield on two shot knees and under steroid suspicion, which is stronger than it's ever been. you should win the division, however, by default. good luck not getting swept in the playoffs.
